Solid and entertaining

Murder Island is a very good HOG in all respects, but the level bar keeps being raised and games such as the Puppet Show series with their superb graphics are superior to Murder Island. But this game has a good story and is set in the present and not the usual old creepy Victorian house.

You and your high school friend CJ along with other classmates are invited to a remote Greek Island for a reunion. You don't have an opportunity to smell the roses, though, as your host ends up dead. Apparently being stalked by an unknown assassin, other classmates turn up dead one by one and you are frantic to find a way off the island.

The characters are portrayed by photographs which add authenticity and the voice acting is very good indeed. Sprinkled about the environments are small tiles which you collect as you go. After every twelve tiles you collect you may access a little blurb about Greek mythology and these little pieces of information are very interesting and they help to flesh out the plot, too.

The mini games are above average, and are reasonably hard. The hidden objects are pertinent to the present or to Greek history and their location makes sense, such as sandals and life preservers near the beach. Each hidden environment contains one riddle question such as "dead president?" (a dollar bill.) The riddles add piquancy and fun to the game. You are able to quickly hop from one area to another by pressing a button in a map provided. This is a great feature and saves you from endless tramping back and forth. Murder Island is a solid, enjoyable game which should appeal to just about every casual game player and is available for instant download at Amazon.
