Challenging Adventure Game for Kids and/or Disney Fans

Pros: Decent GBA graphics, good plot line

Cons: Boss battles can be frustratingly challenging

The Bottom Line: The plot and graphics are good, but the very hard boss battles and it being very easy to get to the bosses made the appeal quickly fade.

I have only played Disney's Magical Quest 3, so I do not know if it is as good or better than the previous games in the series, but it does stand alone as a decent game.  In this game you play as either Donald or Mickey.  The basic plot involves Donald or Mickey going through different parts of a storybook world to save Donald's three nephews (Huey, Duey, and Louie) and then ultimately defeat the evil King Pete to save storybook land and allow them to go back to their world.

The game has several stages to go through.  Personally I found the 3 stages I played easy to get through, but the bosses at the end were pretty challenging.  I had very little trouble with the first.  I could not beat the second and only got to play the third stage because that was were the save file was at on the cartridge I rented.  Again the third boss was too challenging for me.  Despite finding it too challenging I still enjoyed renting it and playing it for a few hours.  I will also admit I did not try too hard to beat it and imagine if I had taken at least a few more tries or perhaps looked online for a guide I could have beaten it.  The fact is that I kind of did not get into it enough to care about getting past the bosses because the levels themselves were too easy and then the boss parts were extremely tough, which just made it boring and frustrating with no in between fun.  If you are good at adventure games and/or want boss challenges as well as like Mickey, then this may be a good game for you, but it could be too tough and frustrating for kids that this game may appeal to.
