Mad Catz Controller Extension - The best game accessory I ever used.

The Mad Catz Controller Extension has proven to be a relief. The purpose of this video game accessory is obviously to extend the length of the controller, and for me, it has been a very good investment in the last five years. It has been excellent to me for numerous reasons. First of all, at one point I use to wear glasses, and this was blamed on playing video games very close to the TV when I was younger, especially, since I didn't need glasses before then. Five years ago, I went through laser eye surgery to repair the damage. Now, since my damaged vision was credited towards my childhood ignorance. I purchased this accessory to prevent it from happening ever again.

Enough of that stuff. Now it's time to hit on why I believe the controller extension is a very good investment. I have a 52 in. TV, and I'm a little bit more than 13 1/2 feet away from it. The extension adds another 6 feet to the controller, which is a little more than 7 feet itself. My entertainment center has a platform about 20 inches wide. The PS2 sits at the very end of it. From this distance, the extension combined with the controller extends the entire distance with a very good amount of slack. The amount of slack is great, because it lessens the chances of hard headed kids tripping over it, when they're running in front of the TV for the weirdest of reasons. This also applies for baby walkers which has never gotten tangled, since the cord is just as thick as the PS2 controllers cord. It also works great for alcohol fueled potential tripping victims.

The extension is very easy to use. The connectors snap into the controller and PS2 connections. One end connector is larger than the other, so it's easy to tell which end goes where. The connectors snap on pretty tight, and doesn't disconnect easy unless you're trying to separate them. The connectors seem to be durable. After five years now and many, many disconnections to place in a proper place after use. The connectors haven't begun to show any wear, which can result in very easy disconnections.

When owning multiple extensions they can be connected with each other to extend the distance even further. The controller extensions work very well, and are responsive with both PS2 and PS1 controllers. The extensions can also be used with dance pads to my experience. Since I don't own and never played any of the Guitar Hero games, I can't speak on the compatibility with them, but I do imagine the results would be promising.

The packaging comes with a warning label that states: CHOKING HAZARD-Small Parts not for children under 3 years old. Therefore, parents need to look out for the curious and mischievous. The only con I can really think of is that the cables only come with one in the packaging. The companies have obviously been milking this one. I understand that people have to eat but come on.

I own this extension cable from Madcatz, to include other ones from a different brand called Komodo Cables. I also own a couple for the Nintendo Gamecube. The results are very similar, therefore, the point of reviewing those cables are pointless, because my reviews would be the exact same thing. I highly recommend the cable extensions to those with big TV's. I also recommend parents pay close attention to the distance their kids are playing video games from the TV, and use this product if believed necessary. I was told that was the cause of my previous bad vision. Therefore
I take no chances.

Pros:
-Easy to use and adds a great deal of length

Cons:
-Comes with only one

a long time ago, I used the Mad catz adaptor for the Genesis to go into my older 19" TV it even did well with PSOne, until I had to play Tekken 3 and it just couldn't handle the graphic anymore; it became cloudy. MadCatz have great accessories all the time...
