Pros: Great Graphics, gribbing story.

Cons: No Multiplay can have long load times and high system specs.

The Bottom Line: Great Graphics and gameply. The next step in action gaming is here.

At first glance it might be easy for some to call Max Payne just another 3D shooter and to overlook it. The first time I played it, I was a but put off by the long load times and the breaks in the action for the narrative. However, to not this game a chance would be to due the game a grave injustice, as Max Payne is the new standard for action gaming.
The story of the game involves an undercover cop who is seeking revenge against the drug lords who killed his wife and his child and left him a bitter shell of the man he used to be. The intense action of the game is shown from a third-person rather than the traditional first-person point of view, but what makes the game stand apart from other games, is the dazzling graphics combined with a gripping and intense story.
Players can move max in a variety of moves including lunges, rolls, and back pushes in both real, and bullet time as you battle in a variety of urban settings. While I would have liked to have seen the game feature multiplay, the lack of this feature is quickly forgotten once you enter the world of Max Payne. Finally a game that lived up to the hype, and will set a new standard for action games.

It should be noted that the game does have very graphic violence, and language and does have high system requirents to play.

About this video game

Wiki

Max Payne, the New York police detective, has had a bad time of it recently, and it's time for payback. Three years ago, junkies high on a mysterious new narcotic called Valkyr slaughtered his wife and child. The tragedy drives him on a prolonged path of vengeance. It turns him from a detective looking for easy work to a deep undercover vice cop infiltrating the Mob to a hardened vigilante. Max Payne is a film-noir-inspired game about revenge that is unflinching in every way possible. It's dark and moody, extremely twisted, and turns PC action gaming on its ear by featuring state-of-the-art graphics, audio, and cinematic action. Aside from its inspired use of photorealistic graphics and unique graphic novel (comic book) panels to further the plot, the game also features something called Bullet Time: a slow-motion toggle, usable for a limited time, that re-creates the awe-inspiring diving maneuvers made popular by director John Woo and, of course, The Matrix .
