I Didn't Think I Would Like it - Boy Was I Wrong!

I wasn't sure about getting this. It looked like way too much brain power was needed when I just wanted something to escape with.

Once I started, I couldn't put it down. It is easy to spend 5 minutes or an hour... or two.

When I began and got through the first few levels, I thought, "This is going to be too easy to get to the end."
But the farther on I went, the better they got and when the easy ones occasionally showed up, it was a welcome break.

Once you get through a set of puzzles, it is great to go back and try to get a three star rating on any that you may have missed.

For each puzzle, there are up to three stars given. One is for completing it within the preset time frame (you can use more time but you just loose a star). Another star is for making it through without making any mistakes. I think the last star is just for finishing the puzzle.

Once you complete a section of puzzles, there are two bonus puzzles based on how many stars you received. I liked going back to rework a puzzle but sometimes I got really monotonous when I was going too fast and hit a block by mistake.

Overall a fun game with a few annoyances.

I don't think this would work for younger children, although my 11 year old son who is very logical in his thinking would probably enjoy it.

My DS was feeling lonely and unloved since finishing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, and it's still another month or so until Pokémon Black comes out. But I suddenly remembered that Picross 3D has downloadable puzzles! So I popped on WiFi and discovered that while I'd already downloaded the first four puzzle packs, there were now 31 of them, with 5-10 puzzles in each! Woo hoo! More Picross!      (Now I just have to hope that they're actually developing …

About this video game

Wiki

Picross 3D is the single player sequel to the popular Picross DS puzzle game. The original game was a number-based grid puzzle that challenged players to reveal a hidden picture. Picross 3D ratchets up the challenge, moving the action into three dimensions. Blending the logical challenge of a sudoku puzzle with the excitement of discovering hidden images, Picross 3D is a must-have for any puzzle fan on the DS. Additional features include multiple categories of puzzle challenges and wireless functionality that allows puzzles to be shared both via the Internet and over a local Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

Picross 3D is a single player puzzle game in which players must reveal a 3D image hidden inside a larger rectangular block composed of smaller squares. To do this players utilize a variety of numerical clues placed upon the rows and columns of the larger rectangular form. Where they exist these clues indicate the number and possible grouping of blocks within that row or column. Where these are absent, the player must use logic and what the clues related to surrounding areas indicate to determine where blocks should be removed or left in place.
