StarCraft 2 - This I will not buy and here is why!

First off I loved Starcraft and the expansion. For me it was the ultimate best in RTS gaming. Warcraft was fine (inc #3) but I was never the one for World of Warcraft.

Starcraft I played mostly alone but on occasion I'd join with friends to play over LAN.

The only other computer game I have spent as much time with is Shogun and Rome Total War so you can see where I am coming from.

Then this is released. And I wonder if Blizzard was bought by SEGA or if their board is become over greedy?

With the massive following of the Star/Warcraft series this was a sure seller but no lets squeeze the buyer for his bucks.

1) This is not a complete game

Unlike all the games before this, you can only play one fraction in Single player. What where they too cheap to include the other 2? The game is expensive as is.

2) Be a guest in your own game on your own computer

The only way to activate this game is via Battlenet and then you must play this through Battlenet or else you must sign on as a guest on your own computer with your own copy of the game :P

3) No LAN

This isn't the most serious thing for me but here I will stand by my own friends who have LANed the previous game to bits. Why? Why take out the one feature that ensured the games timelessness?

My stand against this new marketing will mean little in the scale of things, but it is my ardent stand. Maybe after a few years the complete game will be released with discount with all 3 races, maybe then to they will have less stringent ties with Battlenet and allow you to own the game you buy. And maybe they will see how badly they have treated their support and consumer base and reintroduce LAN play.

But then maybe others will join my protest,

Quote Alice's Restaurant:

"You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think
he's really sick and
they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it,
in harmony,
they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in
singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement."

This isn't really a review of the game, but I hope you enjoy my Starcraft II story....    So, yesterday was the big day. Starcraft II, the sequel 10 years in the making. I thought Mike was going to explode. The suspense started the day before yesterday. He kept checking on the order status (pre-ordered with release date delivery from Amazon) and was staring to panic because at 6 that evening it was still pending shipping. At this point, he is lamenting that fact that he pre-ordered …

So I'm not a big fan of multiplayer games. No, I tend to go it alone as much as possible (the one exception being "World of Warcraft", but even then I tend to avoid PvP). I haven't tried any of the multiplayer aspects of this game yet, so this isn't a review of those. Instead it's a review of the solo story mode and the solo "fight against AI drones" modes.    First, the graphics. Oh, goodness me, they're lovely. Part of why I bought the computer I bought was for this game and …

I've been waiting a long time for the sequel to Starcraft. I wasn't exactly sure if Blizzard could update the game and still keep the same feel. I am happy to say that they have! The game play you know and love from the original is all there but the graphics have been brought into the 21rst century. Here is a quick run down of my experience so far:    Graphics: I'm not running the most state-of-the-art computer, but the game runs great on the "High" settings. I'm running an Intel …
