I've never played any of the previous Tales RPG series so I had no idea what kind of game I was getting. But from all the reviews I've seen, most people love the game. After just completing it last night, I would have to say this was a pretty fun game.

BATTLE/GAMEPLAY:
This isn't your old school RPG where you issue a command for everyone and the enemy waits til you're done. This is all done in real time and you get to run around slashing at the enemies from front, side, or back. You also get to do cool combos with the main character that consume tp/mana pts. I was a bit confused at first and kept button mashing but after about 1/4 of the way through the game, I realized that I was gonna get owned badly if I kept up with it, especially during the boss fights. So I started doing chained combos, blocking, using items, running and healing up, etc. Although I'm not 100% sure, I think your friends can play the other characters in your party if so in a way, this could've been a multi player RPG.
GRAPHICS:
I must say that the graphics were a bit cartoony for me. It felt like I was watching a saturday morning cartoon. But I'm honestly not the type that cares too much about graphics unless its bad to the point of the atari and original nintendo days.
STORY:
The story was pretty damn good most of the way through for me. I felt like I knew each and every one of the party members very well. As you play through the game, you'll know more and more about each character especially with their little side conversations you can listen to that's available if you want to listen to it. Another cool thing about it is that you can set the game to easy mode, which I did, If you're not really looking for a tough challenge and just wanna complete the game to follow the storyline. The one gripe I have about the story was the way it ended. The last cinematic was really short and I must say that for the amount of cut scenes and cinematics this game has, it was a very big let down.
Overall, this game was really fun for me. I finished this game in about 50 hrs and I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. I would have to say that if it wasn't for the ending and the cartoony graphics, I would've given this game easily a 5. But thats just my 2 cents.

I was actually blown away by the story. It was so remarkable in so many ways. I especially liked the characters. Unfortunately, I never actually beat it. I made it all the way to the Final Battle and then just sort of stopped playing.

Yea, I would have to admit storyline was the best part for me about this game too. But once again, if you stopped before the last battle, you didn't miss much.

interesting, bud. I am a returning gamer and I just beat steroid Joker in Arkham Asylum in the first try! I'll keep this game in mind...

I'm not sure if you're an RPG'er like me but if you are, this game is worth it. Its definitely better than most of the other RPGs out there right now that I've played.

I did spend over 95 hours on Final Fantasy and loved the Elder Scrolls game on PC. I have no doubts that I'll get into this one fo-sho.

More Tales of Vesperia [Xbox360] reviews
Well, what a surprise. The game just got uploaded on Games On Demand. It's $30/€30. Should be good for europeans, since people are asking 60+ for a used copy. On a side note, could this be related to the announcement of the Blu-Ray movie? Or maybe to Graces F? Maybe Namco is trying to increase awareness on the series?

Tales of Vesperia is the tenth main title in the Tales series. It was developed by Namco Tales Studio and published by Namco Bandai Games for the Xbox 360. The title was announced on December 22, 2007 at Jump Festa, and was released on August 7, 2008 in Asia, and on August 26, 2008 in North America. On June 26, 2009 Tales of Vesperia was released in Europe making it the fifth game in the Tales series to be released there. Tales of Vesperia's characteristic genre name is RPG to Enforce "Justice" (「正義」を貫き通すRPG "Seigi" o tsuranukitōsu RPG?). The game's character designer is Kōsuke Fujishima, the chief director and producer is Yoshito Higuchi (who previously worked on both Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss), and the animated movies were done by Production I.G. The game's theme song is "Ring a Bell" (鐘を鳴らして Kane o Narashite?) by Bonnie Pink.[5] A special limited edition was released in North America, including a metal case with unique cover art and a 22-track soundtrack.[6] In April 2009 it was announced that those who purchased the special edition would be mailed a second 10th anniversary soundtrack CD.[7] A prequel to the game in the form of an animated film called Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike was released on October 3, 2009.
