Hey Deb, has anyone done a collaborative list so far?
devoraAugust 23, 2011
Hey Count, what do you mean by a collaborative list? The most collaboration that I've had on a list is when I come up with a theme/idea and ask others for topic suggestions :)
It's right here. What I did was choose a community that I'd started which featured a particular theme or general subject matter within a genre (in this case fantasy) and then asked friends to explain why they liked the genre and what their three of their favorite examples of the genre were in different mediums (so far it's covered films, books, video games, and anime films).
It was kind of an idea I had a while back about people being able to work together on a cooperative list where they could share ideas on a particular topic or whatnot. Then make it so they could all be included within one list as contributors, instead of just having a single author of the list. I figured it kind of was nice way to bring people together while letting them espouse some of their thoughts on a particular medium they were passionate about.
devoraAugust 26, 2011
Just checked it out -- very cool and creative, Sean! Like I mentioned in the comment, it'd be really cool to see each of those topics as stand alone lists, too. I love that you all swapped ideas with each other! :)
Count_Orlok_22August 27, 2011
Yeah. It was a little tricky communicating with everyone via email or IM messages and keeping it all straight. I'd like to see some other folks on Lunch try that for their communities. I think it could be fun.
Brittney responded to some comments we made on her "The Other Boleyn Girl" review. I just noticed it, and I thought I would pass that info on to you in case you wanted to respond. She posted the response as a new comment, so I never received a notification about it: http://www.lunch.com/reviews/book/UserReview...337-24623-Amazing_.html
Also, any luck on separating my John Adams review onto its own topic? I originally wrote it for the audio book version, and I think it got merged somehow. Finally, any more updates about the Twitter issues? I saw that some topics had been fixed for me, but not all of them.
devoraJune 21, 2011
Hey Adrianna, the twitter issue is not yet completely fixed yet, but your John Adams audiobook review is now under the appropriate topic :)
AdriannaJune 28, 2011
Darn! I was hoping it was almost fixed because I saw some of my reviews/topics could be tweeted and counted. I saw that there were others that can't, so I should have figured as much. Little Miss Impatient here, lol! Thanks for fixing the audio book thing for me!!

Hey Deb. I'm having trouble getting a community message to either send or save for later. Is this a glitch?
devoraJuly 12, 2011
Oh noes! What's happening when you try? Have you tried opening a new tab or browser to try again? If you still continue to experience this, shoot me an email with more details and we'll try to figure out what's going on.
Yeah, I tried refreshing and opening a new window, but when I click on "preview and send" or "save for later" nothing happens at all.
Count_Orlok_22July 12, 2011
It's doing the same thing with regular messages too.
devoraJuly 12, 2011
I was just able to send you a message. What browser and operating system are you on?
Count_Orlok_22July 12, 2011
Yeah, the message went through and I was able to reply. And I'm using Firefox.
Count_Orlok_22July 12, 2011
Okay, it seems to have worked now. For some reason it wouldn't preview and send or save for later because of one of the photos I linked to, so I saved the photo on my computer and uploaded it directly into the message and then it worked. I have no idea why though. Are there certain sites or systems that Lunch blocks?
devoraJuly 12, 2011
Oh, phew! No, we don't have a preset list of blocked websites, but once in a while, we do encounter sites that are just not compatible with Lunch for one reason or another. When it comes to images, I suggest embedding and uploading it via the rich text editors upload option. Personally, I use that, or Flickr if I want to upload it elsewhere. As for embedding videos, Youtube or Vimeo work best.
Count_Orlok_22July 29, 2011
Out of curiosity, why is it that when I embed photos into my lists sometimes they are reformatted and the size and ration isn't skewed and can I fix it so that the photos are scaled down without squishing the image?
devoraJuly 29, 2011
Ah, I just tested it and see what you mean. My apologies about that! It appears to be a bug and the team has been alerted about it. In the meantime, however, you can make the images go back into proportion by editing the list. You would click on the image in the rich text editor, then click on the image embed button. There, you can tweak the numbers back into proportion. Thanks for mentioning this!
Count_Orlok_22August 01, 2011
Thanks for the advice, Deb, I've now got it so they aren't all squishy looking. LOL!
Hey Debbie, I just came up with review #501 (China's Got Talent 2011) which I know many wouldn't be interested in on Lunch.com. However, it's such a great show that I had to write about it. Your parents would probably like it. So, just forward the link to them if you have the time, will you? Oh, do check out those few videos, they are awesome! In fact, the entire series of shows have had me crying and laughing so much that I may just be able to review some more but if you can't wait you may want to check the entire full length shows (9 weeks of them so far, still ongoing) on Youtube! Happy viewing!
devoraJuly 05, 2011
Oooh, thanks for the heads up! My parents have sent me a couple of clips from that show. Wonder if they made it onto your review :P
SharrieJuly 06, 2011
Cool! They certainly are into China more than I thought :)
woopak_the_thrillPosted to devora's profile May 10, 2011
Hi, Debbie, seems like the glitch that happened before with @2_TwoJewsOnFilm is also happening to @CRSwanson's reviews...Please assist or are there changes again?
no, thank you for all your help. You guys have been great!
woopak_the_thrillMay 13, 2011
hey, Debbie sorry you had to correct your community message because of my small mistake with H-wood history and details with my The Beaver review. I apologize for the trouble. :(
devoraMay 13, 2011
Hey Woo, it's no problem at all! @Trekscribbler caught it for us :P
woopak_the_thrillMay 14, 2011
Hi, Debbie, I sent you a couple of messages for the request me and Orlok have in mind....
devoraMay 16, 2011
Checkin' it!
woopak_the_thrillMay 24, 2011
Debbie, it is me again the pesky founder of Movie Hype...LOL! I sent you another message...
devoraMay 24, 2011
lol, checkin' it! :)
woopak_the_thrillJune 03, 2011
Debbie, I have a silly question: with all the 'poking' in Facebook going on, can we have a "stare at" feature so this site can be creepy and different? LOL!! (i've been poked so many times at FB!)
devoraJune 07, 2011
LOL, that would be kinda creepy! Oh, the mind of Woo :P
woopak_the_thrillJune 07, 2011
heh. well, Orlok and me were wondering about 'eye gouge'? LOL!!
devoraJune 07, 2011
That sounds painful! :x
woopak_the_thrillJune 09, 2011
ok, how about an eye gouge that comes with a donut? :P
On another note, I did an experiment. I imported a topic (by Lunch this) and then I posted my review on it and it didn't show in Movie Hype's activity feed. The review is only visible under "Reviews"...
devoraJune 09, 2011
Sheesh, Woo. Blind AND full of calories and carbs!
woopak_the_thrillJune 09, 2011
I know right...LOL!! I added info on my previous comment... :)
Hi Debbie! Is the tech crew making any progress with the bugs I submitted? The one that is bothering me the most is the fact that I'm still unable to delete the duplicate photo and change my photo on my Lunch profile. Let me know what's up!
devoraMay 18, 2011
Hey Adrianna, thanks for flagging the bugs! The Lunch team has been checking them out and I just pinged them about the profile pic one.
Thanks. I really appreciate it. I know I'm waiting to hear back about the FB connect issue, which still doesn't work for me, the tweet issue, and then the photo one. Out of the three, the photo one is the bug that bugs me the most, lol! I wanted to change the photo to one of my mom and I for Mother's Day, and I never got to, which bummed me out. I wonder if the photo issue could be connected with the FB connect issue.
devoraMay 18, 2011
Hey Adrianna, I sent you an email about the profile pic issue. When you make changes to your profile pics, do you then scrolls down all the way to the end of the page and then click on the green "save" button? As for FB connect, have you tried clearing your cache?
AdriannaMay 18, 2011
Yes, I do. Nothing happens. It acts like I'm not even clicking the save button. And, I did clear my cache, and still I get a network error that pops up in a smaller Chrome window.
devoraMay 18, 2011
Hey Adrianna, you said that you're on the latest version of Chrome, right? And Windows 7? Just wanted to confirm that for the team. Thanks for the info!
Some info I just found out: That Comic Relief in Berkeley closed. This happened months ago but I just found out today. Two new comics shops opened instead, one on Shattuck (where CR was) Fantastic Comics and the other on Claremont, The Escapist Comics. There is Free Comic Book Day in Berkeley this weekend too. I may rejoin the Berkeley community as a result of all this activity. Better get my BART ticket paid up!
devoraMay 04, 2011
Oh, that's sad! I know a couple of comic book stores closed in Richmond and Albany, too, and converted to just being online and going to conventions. Hope these other storefronts make it. And yup, better get those BART tickets!
ScotmanMay 05, 2011
Yep, things are happening in Berkeley that's for sure. I know the manager of the new Escapist Comics shop, I've bought and sold comics to him when he was just an independent dealer. He is or was also a barrista at Peets Coffee. I may suggest he combine his two talents and call it the Comics Cafe. LOL. I did not know of the Richmond and Albany places. I buy mostly online at eBay but there are times you just have to see a store and grab a book to read.
Hi Debbie! Israel is having some major issues with his account. I just posted a ticket about it. Here's where he's commented about it on his profile page: http://www.lunch.com/iddrazin#comments
Count_Orlok_22Posted to devora's profile April 24, 2011
Hi Debbie. I just had a quick question to ask. I've noticed that there is now a view counter over each review and list, and I was wondering if this took into account IP addresses to ensure that it wasn't counting the same person more than once, and I was also curious if it only counts Lunch members or anyone who views it and isn't on the site. The reason I'm wondering is that I noticed some of my reviews have had tens of thousands of views and that just seems so high.
devoraApril 25, 2011
Hey Orlok, the view counter takes every view into account, and there are various factors as to why some of your reviews may have gotten many views, like it was featured, shared, or picked up by a search engine, etc :)
Count_Orlok_22Posted to devora's profile April 06, 2011
Hey Debbie, could you do me a huge favor and remove the writer template on this topic? Harryhausen never wrote any of the films he animated on. Speaking of which, when will new templates be added? We really could use ones for animators and film producers. Thanks! : )
devoraApril 06, 2011
Hey Count! I'm asking the team to take a look at that topic. As for new categories, we don't have any immediate plans for new categories, but I'll pass your message onto the team. For now, those folks can go under the "People" category :)
ScotmanPosted to devora's profile February 10, 2011
By the way, when does the 2011 Lunch Awards voting start? March?
devoraFebruary 16, 2011
Hey Jim, the nomination for the 2012 Lunch Awards will open up towards the end of this year, so start taking notes on great award-worthy reviews written in the year of 2011! ;)
It was kind of an idea I had a while back about people being able to work together on a cooperative list where they could share ideas on a particular topic or whatnot.
