I have a hectic life, probably just as hectic as the rest of you. I'm planning my own wedding and because of budget constraints, I'm DIYing a lot of it. I'm attempting to get my BA after I had to change majors due to circumstances beyond my control.  I have a full-time and then some job as a Marketing/Sales Manager for an Ice Cream … more

Some of you know how much I love iPhone apps that let me obsess over wedding planning, just check out my Weddings911 review! How brides of yonder years planned weddings without the Internet is beyond me; they actually had to physically go to all of the stores, bakeries, and go solely by word-of-mouth in order to figure out what would work for their … more

Last night was my first night out as a returning Bay Arean and we started it off with a bang at the home opener at AT&T Park but, that's another review. I had heard about an event at Eve Lounge on Howard with two of my fave SF DJs- J-Boogie and Sake One and was looking forward to our first night out in the Bay that wouldn't end in the … more

Opentable.com is a lifesaver. As some of you know, I love to eat out and I love to travel. How do you find a great restaurant when you're traveling? How do you know they have a table for you when you need it? How do you know they're going to have exactly what you're in the mood for on their menu? In a culinary city like San Francisco or Santa … more

I was visiting my mom for a week and had offered to make her dinner, anything she wanted and that may have been my first mistake. But, instead it was a blessing in disguise. She told me that she wanted to teach me this recipe because the leftovers would give you two other meals after the first WOW dinner was eaten. Well, being unemployed, I jumped … more

My Favorite Works of Art: Statues, Sculptures, and a Bust (10)

Thanks to @Count_Orlok_22's list for the inspiration for this one. I haven't thought of my favorite sculptures since I was probably in Art History classes for college. So, thanks to him, I took a walk down memory lane and rekindled some of my passion for art. Here's my version of his list ;p

Every once in a while, a catastrophe strikes that will remind us how lucky we are to be alive- to have been in the right place at the right time, even if it doesn't feel like it. When those catastrophes strike, such as the recent 7.0 earthquake in Haiti, the poorest nation in the entire Western Hemisphere, it can be overwhelming. Haitians live on under $1 a day and half of them are under the age of 21. Many high standing officials … more

This holiday season is a little rough for most of us. This presents an interesting life lesson- the one where you get to learn about the real spirit of Christmas, not the monetary value but, the true value of being surrounded by loved ones and giving back. However, does that help squash the expectations that we have to give something? Nope and don't worry, I'm in the same position as you and I'm here to help!

Can you believe that ANOTHER dancer was injured last night?! They didn't say how badly Lauren was hurt because it happened right as they were going off the air. I suppose we'll have to wait until tonight to find out. Billy and Robert had a good night. I have to say that their Bollywood number was the best I have ever seen on the show period. Nigel said it was the best with 2 guys but he's wrong. It's the best. Robert was doing a better job than Billy. Billy was coming off to Western.

I'm crushed! Poor Alex. I hope his tendon isn't so badly damaged that it affects the rest of career. Maybe they'll give him a free pass back next season like they did with Billy Bell.

I was just saying how crushed I am too! I hope they do, if he decides to come back, that is.

Poor Alex.
On July 14, 2010
I know! I hope he can come back and that it doesn't ruin his career too! What is up with this season? There's been nothing but, injury after injury. Who's your choice now that Alex's gone?
On Wednesday
It has been really bad for injuries this year! Did you know that neither the show nor the network is picking up any part of the cost of his surgery or rehab? That's just outrageous as far as I'm concerned. Fans on his website are talking about starting a fund for him because as it stands now he has no place to live, no job, and no way to pay the bills. Of course he could probably move back to Canada with his parents but the rehab facilities are better where he is. I'd like to donate of course, but I'd have to be very certain that the money was going where it was supposed to be going and not to some con artist. As for the show, I'm still partial to Billy Bell, but I think Kent will win it hands down. What do you think?
On Wednesday
No way! Yeah, that's the trick...is making sure that all the donations go to the right place. Kent is pretty good and has been stepping up to every challenge- even STEP! I love Lauren, it may be my bias since she's the only girl left but, she's amazing! I'm also partial to breakdancers and underdogs which makes me root for Jose every week but, he really can't make it that much further just based on his cuteness!
On Wednesday
Jose is hanging on by a thread--he just isn't in the same league as all the other dancers. Of course they've never had a Latino win before... But those little girls sure love Kent and he is a terrific dancer so my money still goes on him unless everyone suddenly notices how good Billy is. I don't know what it is audiences have against him.

So are you keeping up with the new season of So You Think You Can Dance? It's pretty wild with so many good male dancers this year. My boy Alex Wongwas finally allowed out of his contract long enough to compete--and then there's Billy Bell, and our little farmboy Kent!

Don't you LOVE Alex?!? I couldn't believe him in that hip-hop routine with Twitch, he was AMAZING! The guys are out of control this year...and Kent and Billy are just so cute.
On July 05, 2010
I think the first guy voted off will be Billy's friend Robert. Alex was unbelievable in that hip hop number. I taped it and watched it 10 or 20 times before I taped over it. I knew from about his 3rd move that he had it nailed. I can't wait to see him try Latin ballroom because it's all about posture, footwork, and attitude and I think he can handle all 3 now! I don't think he or Billy will win because the best dancers never win. But on the other hand an Asian has never won...
On July 05, 2010
After that hip-hop number I think he should win! I love my breakdancers as you know but Jose, charming as all get out, just doesn't have the technicality and posturing the others do. I think he'll be the first guy to go but, he does have that smile....
On July 06, 2010
A Latino has never won so he may be the second to go. I still have 5 bucks riding on Robert to be first to go--after all he's been in the bottom three twice now. If Alex is as smart as I think he is, he's spent the last year or so working on some of the stuff he'll encounter on the show.
On July 06, 2010
:'( Alex is no more...can you believe it? I'm SOOOO sad, what a loss for the show. Do you think he'll come back next year after all he's given up to be on the show in the first place?
On July 14, 2010
I'm almost as heartbroken as he is. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a career ender= with the wrong surgeon it could be. They brought Billy Bell back this year but they made him go to Vegas. He got sick after one episode. They'll probably do the same with Alex. I hope he comes back and wins the damn thing after all he's been through.
