20 Stocking Stuffers Under $15

  • Dec 8, 2011
  • by
Last year when we first hosted Christmas at our house, I relied mostly on the kindness of the $1 bin at Target or the $1 store. While both those are awesome places to look for stocking stuffers or throw in gifts, I figured I'd get a little more creative this year. You can't always rely on them to find the PERFECT little gift, so I thought I'd make a list of affordable stocking stuffers for everyone on your list. If you have any of your standbys to add, feel free to make your own list or leave them in the comment section!
Tweets & Status Updates for All Occasions
Cost: $9

Tweets & Status Updates for All Occasions will help out any social media hound or novice find the perfect status updates for each occasion of your daily life.Whether they belong to every social network there is or they just started using Facebook to find old friends, they will love this perfect stocking stuffer or throw in gift. I've already bought a few copies, myself!
Bosktop Lunchbox
Cost: $15

Bosktop Lunchbox
is the perfect gift for the person in your life that's always stuck in the office for the entire lunch time (I'm thinking this would be perfect for your boss or co-worker throw in gifts). It's the perfect green answer to that boring ol' brown lunch bag, which I haven't seen since I was in elementary school so I'm not even sure that they still exist. OK, so it's better than the plastic Safeway bag!
Monkey Tea Infuser
Cost: $5-$12

The Monkey Tea Infuser is a really cute addition to any loose tea lover's arsenal. Clamp on the paws on each side of the cup and let the tea steep for a few minutes while you smile into your morning. Note: Google for lower prices. I added that link so you know what it looks like but, you can find it for cheaper than $12.
Animal Crayons
Cost: $7.50

These cute animal crayons come in 6 colors and a little cardboard schoolbus...a perfect stuffer for an aspiring artist or for the kid in all of us.They are made of plastic so there isn't any wax residue to worry about!
Simson Flat Tire Repair Kit
Cost: $7.50

For all the active bikers on your list, the Simson Flat Tire Repair Kit is a great stuffer. They can act as their own roadside assistance and get any flats fixed ASAP to get them back on the road. The pocket-sized kit is complete with tire levers, patches, and glue.
Basil Saddle Cover
Cost: $12.50

I want to get a bike just to get this super cute Basil Saddle Cover, oh, and for exercise, too! Another great gift for the biker on your list, this seat cover is waterproof and comes in a variety of colors and designs.
Mystery Drinking Game
Cost: $13.50

For the host/ess or game player on your list, the Mystery Drinking Game is a load of fun. From the site: "The game begins with all players pouring some of their drink into the mystery drink cup. Decide who goes first and then continue in a clockwise direction. Each player will swing the pendulum and follow the drinking instruction." I see a plethora of hangovers in the near future.
Predict a Pen
Cost: $7

Remember those magic 8 balls back in the day that you used to shake for an answer (yes, they have an app for that) but, even cooler? The Predict a Pen acts as your portable and easily accessible 8 ball. The sayings may be a bit guy-oriented but, I think it's a good gift for anyone that uses a pen pretty regularly. They're also not for children: Not For A Million Dollars; Dude, No Way; Hell Yeah! If You're Lucky; It's Unclear, Ask Again; Without A Doubt.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects
Cost: $8-$10

For the beauty addict, Sally Hansen Salon Effects is the perfect stuffer. These super simple stick on gel manicures go on easily and are like a gel manicure. From ulta.com: It wears like nail polish because it IS nail polish. No dry time, so you're ready to go.
  • Lasts up to 10 days
  • Removes easily with nail polish remover
  • 24 fashion-forward styles

Homedics Mini Massager
Cost: $5

This portable Homedics Mini Massager is perfect for the well-traveled or hardworking office dweller on your list. Battery-powered and portable, this massager is the perfect remedy to those tired, achy muscles. You can use it on your feet, shoulders, neck, lower back, anywhere...
Cost: $15 and under

DVDs are the perfect stocking stuffer. The cheapo in me likes them because they take up space and the giver in me loves that everyone loves movies but, would rarely buy one for themselves. Blockbuster has the best deals you're going to find anywhere, often with a 4 for $20 deal, so that you can get everyone their own flick.
Gift Cards
Cost: $15 and under

People have said that gift cards are unpersonal and that they don't require thought. I tend to disagree with that, especially in the case of stocking stuffers and throw ins. You can stick with the standbys- Starbucks, grocery stores, Target, Blockbuster, Visa or go more personal and get one from the person's favorite store/cafe/restaurant/wherever. Go to Safeway or CVS to get them.
Laser Finger Beams
Cost: $4

These Laser Finger Beams will keep any kid or grown-up kid or possibly your cat entertained for hours. It comes with 4 pieces: Red, Blue, Green, White and an elastic strap that fits most fingers (strap is replaceable). Each unit is powered by long-lasting 3 coin-cell batteries (all included)
Batteries are also replaceable. Good for photography, making your hand a flashlight, night hiking, dancing to techno at 4am, entertaining cats, you name it!

Pinhole Camera Solargraphy Kit
Cost: $9.50

For the photog on your list, the Pinhole Camera Solargraphy Kit helps them build a green camera in 1-2 hours. There isn't any lens on the camera, so pictures are best taken in bright light situations. It's a fun retro gift.  Use 35mm film (not included) preferably ISO200. Here are the tech specs off of the website:

Film type: Aperture 1.16mm. Focal length: 20mm. F stop F/130. Pinhole cameras do not have optical lenses. Film is exposed by light through a tiny hole in front of camera. Because there is no lens, the image will be in focus at all distances. Best pinhole pictures are taken on a bright day. The camera must be very still when shooting. Exposure times range from 5 seconds to hours and sometimes days.
Crystal Purse Holder
Cost: $7.50

Ever been out to a bar with friends when the bar wasn't thoughtful or advanced enough to place those hooks against the bar to hang your purse on? The bar is crowded, your purse is heavy and it's looking like the only choice you have is the filthy floor? Say no more! With the Crystal Purse Holder, you can clip it on the side of any table bar and hang your purse far above the bacteria infested bar floor.
Dog USB Splitter
Cost: $10

For the techie on your list, the Dog USB Splitter is incredibly useful and will keep all their gadgets charged up and ready to take on the world. You won't have to get in the PC vs MAC argument either since the dog works with both. It includes: 4 USB 2.0 hi-speed ports; light indicating port status; and a 30" cord. Plus, it looks cute on the desk!

What did you think of this list?

I love the mini massager, the laser finger beams, and the buddy bottle opener. They are all either fun, cute, or useful. Which all are great qualities for gifts (even stocking stuffers) to have. I may have to subtly send this link to my family. Having only oranges in your stocking gets old after a few years...

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad I can help. Definitely send it on to your family, I'm sure they'll appreciate the tips! Oranges are good too, but I can see how it could get old, unless you have some melted dark chocolate to dip them in ;p

December 15, 2011
The pedometer is a great idea! I'm thinking of getting that for my mom as well.
December 08, 2011
Great! I could use the pen - it would be nice to not have to carry that Magic 8-ball everywhere. It's so bulky.
December 09, 2011
Most definitely! They have an app for that, too ;p You ask a question and shake your phone to get your reading. The best part about that? You can add your own answers.
December 08, 2011
Awesome! I especially love the emergency cufflinks even though I myself wouldn't have any use for it. It's genius!
December 08, 2011
Thanks! I thought the same thing :)
December 08, 2011
Cool list. My kids already have the finger lasers. My son is particularly fond of them because they are his "power beams" he uses to fight bad guys.
December 08, 2011
That's so cool! I saw those and had to add them to my list of must-buys for my nieces/nephews/friends lol
