My Top 5 Whitney Houston Songs!

I remember listening to Whitney Houston on my boombox, singing and dancing around my room along to her tape. Yes, that's how old I am lol I would make up routines to her songs constantly and pretend to perform concerts. She had such an amazing voice and range with so much potential. It is too bad that she chose a bad path in life because it seemed like she was on the brink of a comeback to end all comebacks. Here's a list of my favorite Whitney songs...

I'm Your Baby Tonight

I love this song and I really can't tell you how many routines I made to it. "From the second you touched me/ I was ready to die/ I've never been fatal, you're my first time" is a fine example of this. Imagine your 12 year old singing and dancing to that?

I Wanna Dance With Somebody

This was my favorite Whitney song when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure that I warped the tape from how many times I stopped, rewound, and replayed this song to get it down. Fun, upbeat, danceable pop...classic Whitney. "Clock strikes upon the hour/ And the sun begins to fade/ Still enough time to figure out/ How to chase my blues away/ I've done alright up to now/ It's the light of day that shows me how/ And when the night falls, loneliness calls"

You Give Good Love

Whitney was definitely at her best with her ballads and this one was one of the first to prove that. Simple lyrics and Whitney's beautiful angelic voice and you have a hit on your hand that will reach into you to make you feel what she's singing about. "Now you're here like you've been before/ And you know just what I need/ It took some time for me to see/ That you give good love to me baby"

Saving All My Love For You

This song is just beautiful, there's just no other way to say it. When she hits that high note (YOUUUUUUUUU), it gives me chills. This song showcases Whitney's range as an influential and talented singer. Though I'm not a big fan of the meaning of the song, there's no denying that Whitney's not alone in being the other woman and suffering from unrequited love. She seems to belt it out better than anyone else. "A few stolen moments is all that we share/ You've got your family, and they need you there/ Though I've tried to resist, being last on your list/ But no other man's gonna do/ So I'm saving all my love for you"

How Will I Know

Back to the fun upbeat Whitney of my childhood, How Will I Know is such a fun dance, pop song. This one is a classic. If you don't feel like dancing in your chair after listening to this one, you must be crazy. "There's a boy I know, he's the one I dream of/ Looks into my eyes, takes me to the clouds above/ Ooh I lose control, can't seem to get enough/ When I wake from dreaming, tell me is it really love"

One Moment In Time

Bonus Fave:

Bonus song: I had actually almost forgot about this soulful Whitney classic until I saw Woopak's answer to my What's Your Favorite Whitney Houston song question. This song is so inspirational and beautiful. "Each day I live/ I want to be/ A day to give/ The best of me/ I'm only one/ But not alone/ My finest day/ Is yet unknown"

I Will Always Love You

Bonus Fave #2:

There is no way that you can make a Whitney Houston list and not include this song on it. My favorite part is the a Capella style opening where you really hear the pure tone of Whitney's voice. She had such control and range, and this song shows both beautifully. I think this is the only part of The Bodyguard that I actually liked. "Bittersweet memories that is all I'm taking with me. So, goodbye. Please, don't cry. We both know I'm not what you, you need"
