What do you enjoy doing during the summer months? In this list I offer you a varied list of summertime activities to consider. With Memorial Day just around the corner I thought that now would be a great time to start thinking SUMMER! As usual, I offer this list in no particular order.
Minor League Baseball
A big favorite here in New England. We have several minor league franchises here in New England, three of which are affiliated with our beloved Boston Red Sox. Lots of fun and very reasonably priced!

I am not very good and I don't get to play very much but I find that playing tennis is a great way to take in some rays and get some much needed exercise.
Hiking trail marker
As I mention in my review this is probably my very favorite outdoor activity.
See the full review, "As far as outdoor activities go hiking is right at the top of my list.".
Fishing never was my cup of tea. When I was a Big Brother I went on a bass fishing trip with my Little Brother. The man who owned the boat had one of those fish finders. The fish had no chance. What's the point? And once I went deep sea fishing with some guys at work. I got sick and it took me the rest of the weekend to recover. Count me out on this one!
For those of you who have never been to a polo match I urge you to give it a try. i find it to be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing summertime activities around here. Relatively inexpensive and extremely family friendly. Your kids will love it.

While I love the great outdoors I find that camping is usually much more trouble than it is worth. Lots of time required to pack up, set up, breakdown etc. etc. And what happens when it rains??
i never understood the appeal of NASCAR especially on a hot and humid summer day. I suppose I would be willing to try it once just for the experience but in general NASCAR is not for me.

A great way to get out of town and enjoy a hot summer day. Where I live we have outstanding salt water beaches and some excellent state parks with fresh water beaches. Personally, I prefer fresh water because there are trees and you can escape the hot sun when you wish.
A great pastime any time of year but particularly pleasant on a warm summer evening.

Sure looks like an awful lot of fun but being from New England it is not really part of the culture. Not sure I could muster up the courage to try it though even if I had the opportunity.
Being hopelessly uncoordinated I'm afraid that I will have to pass on this one. Would wind up being a very frustrating and expensive activity for me.
Looking forward to several picnics in the coming months. Always enjoyable!

Going for Ice Cream
Kids today are certainly a lot more sophisticated but what kid won't jump at the chance to go get some ice cream with the family. One of the all-time great summer activities!
Be it in a pool, at a lake or in the ocean swimming ranks near the top of everyone's list for summertime fun. I especially enjoy the opportunity to body surf at the shore. That is always a blast!
Everyone loves a barbeque! I am up for one anytime.
Amusement Park
Amusement parks were all the rage in the when I was growing up. I was never a big fan myself. Many locally owned and operated parks have disappeared over the past 20 years and havely largely been replaced by regional mega-attractions like Disney World and Six Flags.
Always enjoyed playing volleyball. It's a game where people of all different abilities and ages can play together. Great family fun at an outing and I imagine lots of fun for those who play the game seriously as well.
National Parks
Taking the family on a road trip to one of America's great National Parks has been a summertime tradition in this country for decades.
State or County Fair
For me the main reason to go to a fair is the food. Love munching on B-B-Q ribs, fresh, hot corn-on-the-cob, fresh squeezed lemonade and maybe strawberry shortcake or some homemade pie. Theres something for everyone at the fair!

What did you think of this list?

I guess I would qualify as a frustrated writer. My work requires very little writing and so since 1999 I have been writing reviews on non-fiction books and anthology CD's on amazon.com. I never could … more
