Mexican fast food AND burgers/fries? Yahtzee!

I keep mentioning this in many of my reviews, but it's really affected how I eat:  I'm a native of Southern California, living in Austin, Texas.  No Del Tacos here in Texas, much to my chagrin.

I miss having the option of going to Del Taco to grab a couple tacos, an incredibly tasty chicken quesadilla and a burger/fries.  There's nothin' like a Del Taco run after a night out drinking beer with your buddies (don't worry, your cab driver will drive you through if you buy him a 39-cent taco!).

One thing I gotta mention here:  crinkle cut fries.   I don't know why other fast food joints don't have crinkle cut fries.  They are the best!  Carl's Jr. - back in the day - used to have crinkle cut fries, but discontinued them for one reason or another.  All hail Del Taco for their crinkle cut fries!

Sad but true; no Trader Joe's here in Texas. Main reason is that Whole Foods is based on Austin and is extremely popular. Trust me, the wife misses TJ's too. Nothin' like Two-Buck Chuck! And on topic, yeah, there's nothing like those Del Taco 39-cent tacos. I actually like them better than Taco Bell's.

Anyone who says "No Del Tacos here in Texas, much to my chagrin" is certainly a long-lost brother of mine. Seriously, though, I could not imagine life without their oddities, like crinkle-cut fries and 39-cent "tacos." I also heard that there aren't any Trader Joes in Big T. Is this true?

The "Veggie Works" burritos are so very good...I'm not a vegetarian so that's saying a lot. For a fast food restuarant Del Taco does a pretty good job at updating and changing their menu to include new and interesting items regularly.

Doing the marine crawl to the bathroom.
My old boss always gave me flack for going to Taco Johns  claiming it was "ghetto".  If Taco Johns is ghetto, then DelTaco is Detroit.  Not quite a warzone but not for the faint of heart.      Sporting a "taco tuesday" similar ot TJ, I had some high hopes going into my first Del Taco, but the brick a brak coloring all over the restaraunt with big colorful chairs made me feel I was sitting in a kids restaraunt.  Many of the boothes looked …

I didn't eat at Del Taco until I was 20 years old. I believe the main reason for this is that I didn't smoke pot in high school*. You heard me. Del Taco is pothead food. Why? Because it's the only fast food open in the middle of the night and it's greasy and satisfying. Seriously- I imagine there's nothing better for the muchies. Potheads- am I right?    (This theory might also stem from the fact that I was finally introduced to Del Taco by my pothead ex-boyfriend. Maybe …

I love Del Taco! I don't know what it is, but there's something about serving fries with "Mexican" food (note the quotation marks' sarcasm) that makes for a heavenly experience. Our local Del Taco knows my sister and me so well that they often throw in an extra drink for us for free!    I've got many favorites here, too many to list out, to be honest. But the following rank among my absolute musts whenever I visit:   Chicken Soft Tacos: These small tacos feature grilled …

About this restaurant

Wiki

Del Taco, a competitor of Taco Bell, is a chain of Mexican-inspired fast food restaurants headquartered in Lake Forest, CA. In addition to serving Mexican-style foods, the menu includes burgers, fries, shakes, and other American fares. The company was founded in Yermo, CA and is currently owned by Sagittarius Brands. Like its competitor Taco Bell, Del Taco's menu features items that often stray from traditional Mexican ingredients and foods. Nonetheless, the company has done well, having opened 500 stores by 2008 in over 10 states.
