Affordable Farm Fresh Restaurant with an Amazing Wine Book in Downtown Napa

After settling in at the Old World Inn, Nando and I decided to head out to the "adventurous palette" dining establishment that our innkeeper had suggested, those were her exact words. We took the challenge gladly after she explained that they change the menus daily based on what's in season and in their garden. Sold!

We had originally reserved a spot in their outdoor plaza but, we had arrived early and decided to sit indoors, since it was ready. Their plaza is gorgeous and you should definitely sit out and enjoy it on a nice evening, we were just hungry. The restaurant is decorated in a purposefully and tastefully rustic manner, that may sound like an oxymoron but, it's the perfect description of Napa and of this restaurant's decor. There were succulents on wooden tables with simple cotton linen napkins and simple silverware. The kitchen is open to the public, so you can see the chefs making everything right there in front of you.
We were seated at our comfy table right by the kitchen which would normally annoy me but, this time excited me since I'd be able to see all the action. First, we confronted the wine bible or book, there is no way that anyone would EVER call this a list, it's about 35 pages long! Not to worry, though, if you're the type that overwhelms easily with a lot of choices or you don't know what you like...exactly. There's an incredibly helpful Sommelier on hand to help you out. Tip: Look at the last page, it has a fantastic selection that's under $30 a bottle from local wineries. After all, isn't that what you're doing in Napa?
We browsed through the simple menu full of farm fresh goodness (just in case you don't believe them, they bold print anything that comes directly from their garden which included basil, rosemary, tomatoes, garden veggies, eggplant, and some others) and myriad of choices (there's first course pasta, wood-fired pizza, meat and seafood dishes).
As you can see above, the pasta dishes are quite small which we didn't know when we ordered two of some of the best pasta I've had in a long time. My suggestion to you is to also order one of their pizzas to share, they price around $10 and look so good. It's not going to kill your bill and it will leave you satiated.
Our total bill was a surprising $73, without tip. We had two pasta dishes, a nice bottle of Sangiovese and desert. I've had the same order in San Francisco and was charged upwards of $150. This is a definite must for those that enjoy farm fresh, gourmet meals and are looking for an enjoyable meal in downtown Napa.
