The menu is as simple as the exterior (see picture above) and that is fine. As with many Asian food restaurants menu items are numbered, and in this case there 95 items including 'Beer & Sake.' You'll find all the usual Vietnamese food choices you've come to expect; the menu is divided into these sections: 'Roll,' 'Salad,' 'Noodle Soup,' 'Noodle Dish,' 'Rice Plate,' 'Vietnamese Sandwich,' 'Drinks,' 'Beer & Sake.' Admittedly, I tend to go for the same items in a place I frequent, and I usually order # 27 - 'Sesame Beef Noodle' (red leaf lettuce, flat noodle, peanut sauce) from the 'Noodle Dish' section. Robert seems to like #43 - 'Lemongrass Organic Chicken' (cilantro, daikon, carrot, green onion) from the 'Vietnamese Sandwich' section.
The food is simple, the flavors clean and direct. They are not breaking any new culinary ground here and that is fine. There is nothing on the menu priced over $9.25. I like that it is local, in the neighborhood, and that I know what I'm getting. That is very soothing, and it seems to work well for the people of Atwater Village based on the crowds always in the place.
