Shanghaiist
Shanghaiist is my most favorite English blog on Shanghai in China. I used to read it a lot when living in China because it gives a more western perspective than the Chinese media would.      Shanghaiist is owned by an American company (Gothamist LLC - no prize for figuring out where this leads!) which also operates other city blogs like Boston, Chicago, LA, San …

Shanghai Pudong International Airport
A little far from the city center but most international flights arrive in this airport. You can take the Maglev train from the airport terminals if you're in a rush (8 mins ride to the city center of Pudong; if your hotel in Puxi, take a taxi from there, this way it will save you some 30 mins at the least). If arriving/departing domestically, the better airport to arrive in would be Shanghai Hongqiao …

Interesting with lots of innovative ideas. Queues shouldn't be too long. Anything less than 30 mins is worth it.

Switzerland Pavilion (Expo 2010)
IF you've been to Switzerland, forget about this one. Nothing much in it. Just some movies about the mountain and a cable car. Move on to others more exotic pavilions. Visit the souvenir shop for some nice souvenirs like the Expo Swatch watch (which you can also buy at most of the Swatch watch shops in China or at the HK airport) and the Swiss umbrellas.

Better for lunch than dinner. Opened by a HK lady, the food is authentically Cantonese. Love its dimsum. Tea is of good quality. Carrot cake with its inhouse chili is a must! Soups are exceptionally well done! Highly recommended. Conveniently located in Time Square on Huaihai Zhonglu.

Look out for the HUGE baby which is quite a delight with visitors. If you've to queue for more than 45 mins, it's not worth it. Move on to the next one.

Japan Pavilion (Expo 2010)
Japan Pavilion is my most favorite pavilion. Before I arrived at the Expo, this is one pavilion I must see, regardless of the time I’ve to queue for it. I Love Japan! And having been to the country more than 2 dozen times, I know even before I visit the Expo that the Japanese pavilion would be one of the most innovative, creative and best designed of them all. After having checked its official …

Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China
While the rest of the world is sleeping, the World Expo in Shanghai has been going on full throttle. It officially opened its door on the 3-day long weekend Chinese public holiday, beginning on Labor Day itself. Since then, Expo had seen the number of visitors climbing with a record of 300,000+ last Saturday. It averages about ¼ million visitors per day for the last 3 weeks or so. That is however …
