Star Wars In Motion: The Best Modes Of Transportation From The Original Trilogy

Here's a list of some of my favorite Star Wars means of getting around the galaxy. The top eight are my favorites in order. After that, the rest of the list is structured in no particular order. If your favorite didn't make the list, leave me a comment as to why you think it should be on there. But let's be honest, is there really any other ship more famous, popular or as cool as the Millenium Falcon?

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is cooler than the Millenium Falcon. She didn't look like much, but she got Han and company out of many tight spots, made the assist against the original Death Star, and took out the second version. I probably could have stopped my list right here, but I must soldier on.

AT-ATs giving you trouble? All you really need is the Force and a trusty harpoon and tow cable. You'll have to supply the Force yourself, but the Snowspeeder can help you with the harpoon and tow cable. This is my personal favorite of all the vehicles in the Star Wars universe outside of the Millenium Falcon.

Most bounty hunters take whatever ship they can get their hands on. Boba Fett, on the other hand, is a more sentimental guy. He travels the stars in daddy's old rig.

From Dagobah to the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance's best mode of butt-kicking was key to the successful defeat of the Empire. Not only did this fighter look cool, it made dudes with names like Wedge and Porkins look cool too.

Sure, you can rumble down the highway on a Harley, but you'd look much cooler on a Speeder Bike. These were first introduced in Return of the Jedi.

You can't dominate the galaxy without a trusty force of flyboys, so you better have a few TIE fighters around to keep the stars clear of rebel scum. Luckily for the Empire, TIEs come in a number of flavors, including the traditional TIE Fighter, the double-hulled TIE Bomber, the sleek and fast TIE Interceptor, and Darth Vader's custome TIE.

Remember, this is a list of modes of transportation, not necessarily just starships and speeders. The Tauntaun is a very reliable ride on the punishing ice world of Hoth. Plus, I hear they're pretty warm on the inside!

Much like the A-Wing, the B-Wing starfighter is primarily featured in Return of the Jedi. I personally think it's one of the coolest starfighter designs in the entire Star Wars series. The rotating hull alone gives it a "Yeah, I'm unique and I'm about to bring the pain" type of look.

Whatever you do, rebel scum, don't run from a Star Destroyer. If the tractor beam, ion cannons, or turbolasers don't getcha, the TIE Fighters will.

Featured prominently in the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi, the AT-ST looked sort of like a chicken and couldn't do much damage against the Ewoks thanks to their MacGyver-like tactics and one particular Wookiee intrusion.

If the Tauntaun made the list, you know I had to throw in the baddest lizards in the galaxy too. The Dewback is a creature native of Tatooine and first appeared in the A New Hope. They primarily toted around Stormtroopers.

One of, if not the, largest ship in the Rebel fleet. They were featured prominently in Return of the Jedi and were a key defense force against the Imperial Fleet while the Millenium Falcon and X-Wing fighters attempted to destroy the new Death Star. If you can get passed the fishy smell, they're pretty cool rigs.

While their excrement was used as a popular verbal insult ("Bantha poodoo") through most of the Star Wars films, the Bantha itself primarily hauled around the Tuskens on their raiding parties.

The fastest thing on wings in the Rebel fleet, the A-wings lacked a lot of firepower, but made up for it by being the peskiest fighters in the stars.

Unlike the A-Wing and B-Wing starfighters, the Y-Wing is featured in all three original productions of the original Star Wars trilogy. They play a prominent role in both attacks on both Death Stars. They aren't too fast, but they provide solid support for their faster and cooler looking X-Wing brethren.

Okay, so it's really a space station and not necessarily a mode of transportation (although it could travel across the galaxy in order to take out targets), but I had to include the legendary Death Star on this list.
