Starships Named Prometheus

The BC-303 aka the Prometheus was Stargate Commands first capital Ship. It was launched in 2002. The Prometheus is a blend of reverse engineered Goa'uld and Earth Technologies. The ship was constructed of Trinium and large amounts of Naqahdah. Over the course of its life Prometheus received numerous upgrades like, Advanced Shields, Beaming technology and an Intergalactic Hyperdrive. (thanks to the Asgard) and did battle against many enemies Like the Goa'uld Anubis, the Forces of Ba'al, and Even for a short time the Ori. 

Unfortunately the ship was lost in 2006 after being destroyed by an Ori Satellite beam Weapon. (the Battle of Tegalus) The Prometheus is later replaced by the more Advanced BC-304 Daedalus Class battle Cruiser.

Like its more advanced counterpart, the Prometheus was Equipped with Conventional Weapons, 16 Rail guns, and Ship to Ship Missiles. It was also equipped with Asgard Beaming Technology, shields and Sensors. When I first saw the ship i hated it. But it eventually grew on me. I was sad to see the Prometheus go.

 Launched from the Beta Antares Ship Yards, the Prometheus class was Starfleets first dedicated Combat/Tactical Cruiser. Like the Defiant class The Prometheus was built specifically for the Borg threat. With features like Regenerative shielding, ablative hull Armour, and Multi Vector Assault mode. Other features included holographic arrays in all the hallways and the Bridge, so that the ships EMH was no confined to sick bay.

Its easy to wonder why Starfleet didn't build these sooner. Especially with the Dominion War looming over the horizon. Its apparent that this Class was reliable as they remained in Service till the 26th century. A Prometheus Class Ship was present at the battle of Battle of Procyon V. One was also present in the fleet that gathered to meet the Borg Sphere from Voyagers last episode Endgame.

In Star Trek the Prometheus Class has only appeared three times. So its hard to really speculate on what these ships can do. If anything, they look really really cool.

Prometheus was a Freighter in the fleet. Not much is known about the ship, as it only appeared twice in the entire run of Battlestar Galactica. The ship is featured most prominently in the Episode Black market, where it is controlled by a gangster named Phalen. This ship is the hub of the fleets Black Market. Like Cloud Nine it is an open port meaning there is a ton of traffic going too and from it every day.

Prometheus looks like a giant Flying Ship Dock.

The Prometheus Class Destroyer is the largest Capital Ship a Player can own in the game Starfleet Commander (not affiliated with Star Trek) When I used to play this game I owned about three of these. These ships are expensive to acquire and are not as fast as Athena Class Cruisers. They make up for this with awesome firepower. Its truly a frightening sight when you check the galaxy screen and see a fleet of 400 of these coming after your planet.

Project Prometheus was conceived in 2003. It was a project that was to develop Nuclear Powered Systems for Long Duration Space Exploration. Not much is known about this project as it was shut down in 2005. This was NASA first attempt at Nuclear powered Space Craft propulsion since 1972.

Its sad that this project was shutdown because In theory its possible that a Spacecraft Powered by A Nuclear Pulse Detonation Drive could achieve light speed.  To all the Sci-fi fans out there I don't have to explain the benefits of Light Speed Travel. Simply put a trip to our nearest star system (Alpha Centauri) instead of taking Thousands of years would only take a few Decades.

Its still a long flight but its an improvement. NASA, you guys need to get back on this. Id like to see outside the solar system in my lifetime.

The Prometheus is a State of the art expedition vessel, owned by the Weyland Cooperation. In 2093 the ship is sent to explore a star system in the LV system (I call it the LV system since the planets there all start with LV)

Prometheus is powered by Four rotating Ion Plasma Engines, features numerous escape Pods and a detachable lifeboat. Prometheus kind of Reminds me of Serenity from the Firefly Series. Its not a big ship, but it is big enough to support a small crew. It has all the  comforts like a Mess hall, Medical bay and Basketball Court.

I'm not sure of the Prometheus's Designation is USSCS like the Nostromo or the Sulaco because those ships were owned by The Weyland-Yuani Cooperation. I don't know if that makes a difference. So for now we will just call it Prometheus.

Also I would like to point out that I LOVE THE LOOK OF THIS SHIP!!!!!!!
