Being written in 1932, one wouldn't expect this book to have such a view of the future. The science fiction within this book is something that I believe probably had little basis in the time's science fact. Maybe it's only because I think 1932 was such a long time ago, and maybe it really wasn't. This book was something that I needed to read in high school. I'm glad that it was. I'm glad that it was something that was recommended to me (ie forced upon) because though the science fiction aspects of it make it interesting, its political commentary it what really matters. A view of the future where everyone is kept in line with drugs. Is that the future or the present? I guess Huxley knew about where we'd end up too. Though I don't believe that this book is quite as important as some other dystopian novels from the middle of the century, it's definitely a popular choice for the specific genre of book.
