This series was recommended to me by a couple of my co-workers. Not really expecting much; I was shocked at just how much and how quickly I fell in love with the characters and story. I literally could not put the first book down and had to immediately go buy all the other books in the series. The main character Claire is such a strong, independent woman that one cannot help but either relate to her or wish to be more like her! The first book in the series deals with a WWII nurse after the war has ended and she has to be reunited with her husband, and she must decide if she still loves him. With one tiny decision to go on a walk alone, completely changes Claire’s life forever. I absolutely love historical fiction, especially those that involve the UK. The writing and amount of detail that is included in this series is amazing! Not only does the author have to deal with details of life in the UK, but the series also includes life in the Caribbean and the newly formed United States. This series literally takes you all over the globe and throughout time. I have never read a series that has actually made me laugh and cry out loud--as each book ends and I had to wait for the next one to be published I actually missed the characters! I highly recommend this series to everyone to enjoy for themselves.
