I didn't decide to read this book until after I had caught the middle part of the movie, Twilight. A couple days later, I went to the library and checked out the book. I love how Stephenie Meyer writes. It's easy to follow and understand and flows beautifully. The first entry in the Twilight book series is like all of them, melodramatic but at the same time quite a page turner. It's teenage angst at it's best/worst, but somehow it manages to keep you hooked despite itself. Twilight is mostly a teenage fair, but many people could enjoy it if they give it a chance. Twilight is considered to be one of the good books of recent times. It has brought in two good concepts for readers and those are vegetarian vampires and a vampire in live. A friend loaned me Twilight after she'd visited Forks WA. She warned me the long lingering glances into beautiful eyes would get tedious. They did, but I still enjoyed the story.

I read this book before all the popularity, and loved it. Edward was portrayed as the dream guy, putting Bella before himself, loving her unconditionally and risking everything for her. Bella is an insecure, clumsy teenage who can not understand why this unattainable guy is interested in her. The love story between these two easily won me over, and had me reading and re-reading this book over and over again.

Granted, I'm not a tween or a teenage girl but this book does not stand up the wonderful books, past and present available to the younger set.I highly suggest the Harry Potter series over the vampire teen drama. As a huge fan of vampire novels, I decided to read the Twilight series even though it was geared to teenagers. I loved the book, however I think the author should have gone more indepth with much of it. Teenagers are more complex than most adults realize. Either they have forgotton or are unwilling to accept that there are many teens out there reading college level material.
