Music : World Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Latin & European Music <![CDATA[ The Newly crowned SUPERSTAR!]]> To say that of Jackie Evancho seems to be a little too early in the game. She's but only 11 year old! And this is her third CD (technically, the 2nd by a record label). Yet, after selling platinum for the first and now 1/4 of the way towards that for the 2nd (after a mere month), it's not too early to say that Jackie has matured in her singing.

A child grows so fast that if you are not looking closely, you lose that precious moment. And this child is so gifted and precious that we tend to forget she's still a child when she sings! Her voice is definitely not that of an 11 year old girl! Within a year of her first record selling CD, she has outdone not only the most matured singer in this field but also herself!

And, it's not all. She still has a long road (albeit a bright one) ahead of her. Would it be a little worrisome for us her ardent fan to think what the world has in store for her? She's entering the adult world of singing and recording at such a young age! Will she keep that purity in her voice? That innocence? That passion for learning and singing? Will she???

Dream with me is a dream comes true, not just for Jackie Evancho. It is a dream that comes true for all of us, the child in all of us. I've heard a great many singers and this one is unrivaled. Now, not some date in the future. This is the answer to The Lord's Prayer.

A star, an angel, 2 prayers, 2 guests and a total of 14 songs make up this wonderful collection of Jackie's singing. It's a keepsake and it's one that's going to guarantee unsurpassed pleasure. Yep, tune up your speakers and simply enjoy Jackie this weekend!

Last but not least, one of my favorite songs in this album is Imaginer, a song written by another fantastic singer, Lara Fabian! Enjoy....

<![CDATA[Guantanamera Quick Tip by Sharrie]]>
Spanish language English language

Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crece la palma
Y antes de morirme quiero
Echar mis versos del alma
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera

I am an honest man
From where the palm tree grows
And before dying I want
To share the verses of my soul.

Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmín encendido
Mi verso es de un ciervo herido
Que busca en el monte amparo
Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera

My verse is a clear(light) green
And it is flaming crimson
My verse is that of a wounded deer(servant, slave)
Who seeks refuge in the woods.

This third verse of "Versos Sencillos" is usually not part of the song

Cultivo una rosa blanca
En julio como en enero
Para el amigo sincero
Que me da su mano franca
Guantanamera, guajira Guantanamera

I cultivate a white rose
In July as in January
For the sincere friend
Who gives me his honest hand.

Y para el cruel que me arranca
El corazón con que vivo
Cardo ni ortiga cultivo
Cultivo la rosa blanca
Guantanamera, guajira Guantanamera

And for the cruel one who would tear out
the heart with which I live
I cultivate not nettles nor thistles
I cultivate the white rose

Final verse of song, as published:

Con los pobres de la tierra
Quiero yo mi suerte echar
El arroyo de la sierra
Me complace más que el mar
Guantanamera, guajira Guantanamera

With the poor people of the earth
I want to cast my luck
The brook of the mountains
Pleases me more than the sea

Original lyrics Translation

Kiss me, give me many kisses,
As if tonight were the last time.
Kiss me, give me many kisses,
Because I 'm afraid of having you then losing you.

I want to have you very close,
To see myself in your eyes, to see you next to me.
Think that maybe tomorrow
I'll be far, far away from you.

Kiss me, give me many kisses,
As if tonight were the last time.
Kiss me, give me many kisses,
Because I 'm afraid of having you then losing you.

Well, the sale figures speak for themselves! First week sale of 239,000 copies & 2nd week sale of 142,000 making that short of 1/2 million in 2 weeks!!! Awesome!

<![CDATA[ Ballade Pour Adeline]]>

Richard Clayderman has since recorded 1200 melodies and is set to perform in Guangzhou Opera House this winter. Richard Clayderman is extremely popular in Asia and has been noted in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most successful pianist in the world. His original name is Philippe Pagès.

Here are more favorites pieces played by Richard Clayderman. Enjoy....

When listening to Clayderman, I often get the feeling that i get when I listened to the Theme from Young & The Restless (Nadia's Theme). I can't truly put my finger on it, but that's how it is. That was another great theme, like the ones from Casablanca. There are truly a great many excellent ballads from the 50s, 60s & 70s! Again, enjoy....

<![CDATA[ La Leine De Saba]]>
Raymond Lefevre is a name that I had almost forgotten. Until I was writing a review about Pierre Porte, another musician who like Raymond Lefevre has a few compositions which I couldn't help but fall in love with. To say it in a more complex way, I would not have known life to be so wonderful if not for what they had instill in me.

Lefevre has passed away in 2008 but his music has stayed with all of us who have had heard it. This is for you, Raymond! Thanks for the best of times and music. La Leine De Saba (Queen of Sabah) = Raymond Lefevre as far as I'm concerned. For some of you it might have been Concerto pour une voix or Ame Caline. Whatever it is, it is the best music of our lifetime! Cheers!!!

The best music are those that bring you beyond your realm of reality and away to a world beyond that of your own. It expands, it enhances and it deepens your connections... with yourself, with your friends and with the world!]]> Sun, 5 Dec 2010 05:45:35 +0000
<![CDATA[ Passionately]]> comes to the rescue! That's the beauty of social media! Truly amazing, the kind of works one can come across in Youtube. Perhaps one day would come to that too! Anyhow, I found what I was looking for and hence, the idea for this review.

Pierre Porte has some of the most awesome compositions I've ever heard and even though it's been a long time, it has lingered on in my mind.

A Treat for you. Hear for yourself...

Passionnement is my all time favorite. Love it!

Tears of Sorrow

NB: Pierre Porte, as with Raymond Lefevre, is more easy listening music than new age. However, I've decided to include them in the New Age & Operatic community rather than to build another community for this as I'm running out of time as I've many other priorities which I need to attend to. Hope you don't mind!]]> Sun, 5 Dec 2010 04:23:35 +0000
<![CDATA[ The Cup of Life]]>

If you had told me last week I'd be writing a Ricky Martin review, I'd have snoot at the idea. Ricky Martin, despite having bought one of his CDs, is not my type of singers. For some reason, I'm just not into him even though he's better looking than Enrique Iglesias and possibly dressed better than Marc Anthony. He hasn't had me "dwell" on his music and hence I never did became a fan. I didn't even know he's Puerto Rican until just when I looked up Wikipedia for his bio. Sometimes though, as one ages, one has more time to appreciate others and give others another chance. Hence, instead of being restless I learned to stop for a moment to listen. Actually, I'm kinda of stuck at home right now coz I'm having a horrible sore-throat; I am voiceless. The only way I could "talk" is to write reviews here on Lunch, haha! Now you know why I've been putting up tons of reviews on musicians the last few hours! I can't use my mouth, but I can certainly listen ;-) Blessing in disguise, eh?!

In life, we talked more than we listened. And sometimes, perhaps, one of those rare times, we are blessed with the chance to truly listen. When that happens, sit still and listen, and you might, like me, find something that you have missed all along...]]> Sun, 5 Dec 2010 03:11:34 +0000
<![CDATA[ Romantic + Charismatic = Enrique]]>
Nonetheless, he finally recorded his first album in 1995 in Toronto titled Enrique Iglesias. That was a total success for a newcomer especially since it's recorded in Spanish & had a sale of 1/2 million copies in one week! This album alone yielded 5 singles. I remembered buying it back then & thought it was a great album, even more so for a new singer! Take a look at one of the songs and you can see how far he has progressed over the years.

The following are from the more recent albums. They are great if not some of the best! I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I do. Enrique has many facets, sometimes he's sensous, romantic while at other times he's upbeat and exudes so much energy that you can't help but joined the rhythm and being lifted up from the doldrums. That's the beauty of Enrique Iglesias' music!

For those who prefer English than music from the world, Enrique also have a great selections to choose from. Here are some of my most favorite. What do you think? Awesome?!

<![CDATA[ Music happy babies ask for and parents can relax with]]>
I discovered Lovely Baby Music when browsing online and I turned on the sample music for my toddler to hear. She was very fascinated and started calling out the sounds she was hearing saying 'lyalya, vodichka, bim bom' in Russian, which means 'baby, water, ding dong'. We were sent a Baby Christmas 2 CD and the Lovely Pregnancy 3-CD Collection for review.

Our experience: We first listened to the Lovely Pregnancy CDs (and no, I'm not pregnant!). There is really nothing that designates this music for pregnancy only the name of the CD and the tracks, you don't have to be pregnant to buy it. It is calm and soothing instrumental and piano music. We enjoy having it on in the morning, it makes for a relaxing breakfast and time for me and baby E to interact. By the way, this is a great way to avoid turning the TV on if you are used to 'background noise'. I would much rather have this music on to listen to with my toddler, than the television that inhibits our interaction, changes her behavior, and does not benefit in social development. I also enjoy playing this before bed while we read or play quiet games with baby E.

Though we do not celebrate Christmas in the way that most people do, we enjoyed the Baby Christmas 2 with familiar tunes. I actually found it rather neutral, some of the tracks I didn't even recognize right away as Christmas songs. Baby E really enjoys dancing to this CD and hearing the sounds of babies and water. She asked for it today actually by saying "baby water music!" I would love to also try other baby CDs in the series with more nature sounds, upbeat music that baby E can dance to, and relaxing bedtime music.

Quality & Value: Though I still prefer classical music with real instruments, this adds a nice variety and the baby CDs are really fascinating and tailored for babies. I imagine that infants would really enjoy listening to the sounds of other babies too. You can purchase the Baby Christmas CD for $14.99 or download it on their website for $8.99. The Lovely Pregnancy 3-CD Set costs $34.95 or a download for $23.99. There is also a perk for our readers, enter coupon code ecobabyz-deal at checkout and receive 10% off your purchase! (ends December 1st, 2010)

Who Would You Recommend this to? Pregnant moms-to-be, fussy babies, musical development for babies and toddlers of all ages. Great for background music during play and any time of day.

Be sure to enter the Lovely Baby Music giveaway at Eco-Babyz! Ends Wednesday December 1st, 2010 at 11:59 pm.

<![CDATA[ I can't help falling in love with you]]> Sashimi, he's an acquired taste.
Like red wine, he gets even better as he aged...

I didn't know that I'd like him as much as I'd at this moment. I had began to listen to Andrea Bocelli over some 10 years ago. He must have improved a great deal since, or else it's digital mastering that's making him a great singer! What I'm listening to now is his concert in Tuscany in 2007 and whatever the reason/s, I must say I'm enjoying this DVD more than I've ever enjoyed most of the DVDs I've had in my collection. This one has some of Bocelli's best. 18 performances with different singers, many duets. Some featuring Kenny G, Lang Lang, Elisa, Heather Headley and also Sarah Brightman.

Despite being blind, he managed to convey his colorful vision of his world to the audiences. And we can see that clearly from the responses to him here. I was updating some of the pages on when I first switched this DVD on, yet, I kept getting distracted... his voices and songs called out for attention! Often, I had the TV/DVD on when I'm surfing, and for most part, I can keep my attention on the computer. In this case though, it's tough... he's that good! It's not that I'm watching to see him, the guy is not that good looking or young, but hey, he's got quite a charisma even with his eyes closed!!! Amazing, isn't it? He's like a statue reaching out, solid and firm, an energy that's drawing you to it, quite an experience to watch and to listen. Grasping & attracting... he certainly speaks to you with his voice & not his eyes ;-)

I'm still residing in China now, so Youtube is blocked and I can't add some videos for your enjoyment. However, you can check it out yourself and when I moved to Hong Kong in December, I'd be sure to embed them in this review. The advantage of living in China is that things are available abundantly and for cheap. This DVD/concert which features some 18 best selections is sold for some US$8 and that's an original version, not pirated. No Youtube or Facebook for now though :(

What more can I say? I'm happy with this purchase and am extremely happy to recommend it to Lunch's readers. If you can find a copy of it where you live, be sure to get it! You won't regret it!

For those who are familiar with Bocelli's songs, here's a list of his performances in this DVD:
  1. "Melodramma"
  2. "Romanza"
  3. "A te"(featuring Kenny G)
  4. "Vivo per lei" (duet with Heather Headley)
  5. "Io ci sarò" (featuring Lang Lang)
  6. "Hungarian Rhapsody" (performed by Lang Lang)
  7. "La voce del silenzio" (duet with Elisa)
  8. "Dancing" (performed by Elisa)
  9. "Canto della terra" (duet with Sarah Brightman)
  10. "Bellissime stelle"
  11. "Medley: Besame Mucho, Somos Novios (It's impossible), Can't Help Falling in Love"
  12. "Because we believe"
  13. "The Prayer" (duet with Heather Headley)
  14. "Italia" (featuring Chris Botti)
  15. "Dare to live" (duet with Laura Pausini)
  16. "Sogno"
  17. "Il mare calmo della sera"
  18. "Time To Say Goodbye" (Con Te Partiro)( duet with Sarah Brightman)

Last but not least, I so enjoy his rendition of Elvis' "I can't help falling in love with you"... It's like Elvis is back! Oh yes, I can't help falling in love with you... Andrea Bocelli!

Update: Dec. 3, 2010

I listened to this concert again on the way to Singapore this afternoon. This is my 3rd listening and yet on my MP5 I'm moved again. Such a marvelous concert and I can't wait but update you on the videos which I found on Youtube. Enjoy...

Some of my favorites from the concert:

Besame Mucho, I can't help falling in love with you (Medley)

“Brown-Eyed Girls” sometimes abbreviated “BEG” is a Korean-Pop group made up of four female singers named Jea, Ga-In, Miryo and Narsha. This group has risen to popularity due to their album “Hold The Line” and “Love“.

        Brown-Eyed Girls (B.E.G.)

Brown-Eyed Girls (B.E.G.)
Brown-Eyed Girls (B.E.G.)
Before when they first came out, they had this happy-go-lucky image but during the release of their third album “candy man” the group sparked a lot of controversy as they changed their image into a mature, independent tough girl-rock group. In truth the music video of ABRACADABRA was the one that really made a lot of people raise their eyebrows. The song can be seen as something in the electronica category and has some scenes that are quite sexy, hinted at forbidden sex and adultery and even lesbianism. I guess since “Brown-Eyed Girls wanted to depart that girly image, they had to go forward with real mature material.
The song Abracadabra was composed by Ji-Nu (famous as the bassist foR the group ROLLERCOASTER) and Min-Soo Lee. I have attached an older video of ’love" and then two videos that reflected that change in attitude with the song “Abracadabra”. Their promoter has advertised their upcoming video for “Drunk On Sleep” to be more provocative than “Abracadabra’s” music video.

Dance Stage Version

I guess they are adapting that rebellious attitude. Enjoy!

<![CDATA[Kitarō Quick Tip by Sharrie]]> Tue, 4 May 2010 03:34:04 +0000 <![CDATA[ A Deeply Philosophical Music]]>
My dating skills have always left plenty to be desired. Mostly because I volunteer the wrong information too early in the dating cycle. For instance, I find cyborgs to be cool. Especially female cyborgs. Not something to volunteer on the first date. Or, at least, not the date that I was on. In the end, while she found me to be quite amusing, a grown man into cyborgs just wasn't her thing. But I don't think it was the cyborgs that tipped the scale for her. I think it was the "cyborg music" that I had in my car. Technically, this mis-step in my quest for love ends on a happy note since the moment the music came on she exploded into laughter. As she wiped the tears from her eyes, I kept a half-committed smile on my face. I waited to see what kind of laugh this was: laughing with me, at me or at my music. Turns it out is was the last two.

The "cyborg music" in question is the soundtrack for Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. Actually, I'm wrong to call it cyborg music. It really is just music that happens to be for a movie that just happens to be about cyborgs. This isn't a movie review, so I'll leave the details of Innocence alone and jump right into Mr. Kawai whose wonderfully beautiful music has obstructed my ability to get laid far too many times. (Told you I give up the wrong information way too early).

So yeah, Kawai's music isn't cyborg music. Truth is, I don't know how to classify his music except to call it deeply spiritual and deeply cinematic. The latter description is a given since most of his work has been the score for Japanese motion pictures, both live-action and animated. While I love the epic and often atmospheric quality of his cinema-music, it is the spiritual part that keeps this man's music in heavy rotation in my car (and keeps my car as a revolving door for dating). Kawai uses a Japanese choir who sing in alto, while the music underneath is carried along by deeeeeep booming drums. All of this is interrupted by perfectly timed extended periods of near silence -- and then...BOOM... the drums are back and the singers carry you through to the end. That is when I wipe either the sweat from my brow or the single tear from my eye. And I mean, this happens almost each time I listen to his "cyborg music".

The man really knows how to switch it up too. For the movie The Sky Crawlers he takes his same choir but makes their presence more minimal and smooth. Contrary to his music for Innocence which has a bit more power to its sound, the music for The Sky Crawlers is poignant and melancholic. In fact, Innocence seems to be hymnal, as if it were looking up at the gods. The Sky Crawlers, conversely, seems to be music about gods looking down at us humans. Becuase a harp is the primary instrument throughout most of the soundtrack, the feeling conveyed is beautiful but sad.

Of course, not all of Kawai's music sounds this way. In the end, the man has to tailor the music according to the aesthetes of the film, but it is these two soundtracks -- Innocence and The Sky Crawlers -- that I would recommend as Kawai's best works. I've already described his sound for both as being "deeply spiritual," but maybe a better way to describe it is as deeply philosophical. There is an unlikely hybrid of the platonic and the poetic in his sound. The word philsosophy means "love of wisdom" and indeed Kawai's combinaton of vocals, drum and bass creates an environment that is wise and ancient.

I'm happy to say that the latest woman on my arm has not ran away from my cyborg-talk or my cyborg music. That isn't to say that she likes either, but she is able to appreciate the virtues of a man-child who gravitates to both. It's different and she likes that. Kawai is different and I love that.

May be it's his romantic voice (if indeed there is such a thing), oh yes, I do know of men who have smiling eyes (especially in Greece), so there must be guys with sexy voices too! I do remember I was hung up on a guy for the longest time simply because he had a most sexy voice and a very clean and somewhat manicured nails. The strangest thing about what would attract or repel you in a man, isn't it?

Well, at least this guy has won the Latin Grammy. It's not a case of him croaking like a toad!
Frankly, I know nothing about this artiste, other than I like his music. It's personal and it's simply entertainment to me. I hope you enjoy his music too, should you never have heard of him. Now that you've, perhaps you'd start to listen to him too!

I remembered about some of my friends on and to some extent, this logic applies perfectly. They found their spouses on VT and even though some of them have totally left the site and deleted their contributions, I don't think they can deny the fact life has changed for them because of their time on VT.

As for Lara Fabian, she's a singer I just discovered while writing a review here on What a find! Listen for yourself...

There are lots of contributions about movies on this site but hardly any on music (that appeals to me). I hope with some of them introduced via this community, more members will introduce awesome music to the site!

Good music lasts an awful long time and extend beyond the life of most things in life. In fact, I still can remember songs like Guantanamera & El Condor Pasa from my childhood!

Lara Fabian has been around since 2 decades ago and yet I'm very surprised that I only found her today! Oh well, at least I found her ;-) There is no reason for you to miss her now!

<![CDATA[ Woopak's Quarter-Year SONGS of 2010....X-JAPAN! (this won't come often)]]>
Everyone knows I am out of ouch when it comes to my music so what the hell am I doing trying to review something when I really don’t have a hoot what I am going to say?! I’ve never reviewed music before and frankly I don’t know how to start; but I figured since I have reviewed Asian cinema a lot, maybe…just maybe my write up on one of Japan’s heavy metal bands will be accepted in my buddy’s little community. Actually I want to contribute here so the hell what you think…I’ll post whatever I want in the “Radio” community! (Actually I wanted to do a political rant about SF”s stupid, overblown “no smoking” policies but hey, this is more fun…
X-Japan is one of the most popular bands in Japan which was founded in 1982 by Deyama Toshimitsu and Hayashi Yoshiki. It was first called “X” and it was rumored that the “X” manga was inspired by this band. I have no idea if this was indeed fact. They began as a power/speed metal until they finally evolved with progressive sound. Yeh, they also had a knack for having these outrageous hairstyles that were colorful and looks well, like water pouring out and sprinkling out of a fountain-well that was in the past. Consider it inspired by anime and Japanese cosplay if you will.

The band definitely had several members that came and went (as with any other band) I began listening to them in the late 80’s to the 90’s. Their sound has definitely evolved through the years, in the wake of American and UK bands. They have real mad heavy metal compositions but I prefer their emotional ballads. One of their songs were actually featured in the anime “X”. many of their songs make use of the piano as its central focus with some orchestrated entries. The songs are mostly composed by Yoshiki with some small contributions from other members. They first achieved mainstream fame with the album “Blue Blood”. The band was supposed to have been included in Japan’s version of ROCK BAND 2--which I may be importing for 3,800 yen.
Anyway, I wanted to just include my favorite songs of the band; here’s a sampling in their REUNION tour.
Forever Love (from the anime X)-

Tears (My favorite)-

Another Video of Tears: semi-English

Endless Rain-

Rusty Nail-

Silent Jealousy-

There are semi-English versions out there for "Tears"....
I've included the lyrics as requested:

doko ni yukebaii anata to hanarete
ima wa sugisatta toki ni toikakete
nagasugita yoru ni tabidachi wo yume mita
ikoku no sora mitsumete kodoku wo dakishimeta
nagareru namida wo toki no kaze ni kasanete
owaranai anata no toiki wo kanjite

nagareru namida wo toki no kaze ni kasanete
owaranai kanashimi wo aoi bara ni kaete
nagareru namida wo toki no kaze ni kasanete
owaranai anata wo toiki wo kanjite

If you could have told me everything
You would have found what love is
If you could have told me what was on your mind
I would have shown you the way
Someday I'm gonna be older than you
I've never thought beyond that time
I've never imagined the pictures of that life
For now I will try to live for you and for me
I will try to live with love, with dreams,
and forever with tears

Well, enjoy. want more? I am still chillin' like a villain....

<![CDATA[Indonesian Pop Songs Quick Tip by Sharrie]]> Sun, 11 Apr 2010 09:14:40 +0000 <![CDATA[The Italian Quick Tip by Sharrie]]> Fri, 9 Apr 2010 15:30:34 +0000 <![CDATA[ The alluring Filippa]]> Today while I was browsing at one of the Gramaphone stores in Singapore looking for any new music or artiste, I came by the name Filippa Giordano. I used to own a CD of hers quite a while back and since I moved out of this town, most of my stuff have been in storage at a local warehouse. I don't remember what Filippa's music was all about as it was at a time when I simply grab CDs from music stores without much of a thought and if they are not extra special, I just chuck them aside. I know, I ought to be shot! ;p

Anyway, I didn't want to buy anymore CDs unless I'm sure I'd love the songs. So, I told myself to come home and check on before I make the decision for the new acquisition. Here are a few of her treasures I found.

Imagine my surprise! I didn't realise she's a crossover musician. And, she had performed the Ave Maria for the Pope! Wow, that's even better than performing for the Queen of England! Anyway, it doesn't matter what kind of musician she is or if she's hot. What matters to me is she produces good music!

Filippa has a wide range of musical repertoire. It is such a delight to click on one of her many videos on Youtube and to be entertained while I'm writing this review. Music is a very personal experience which each of us is preconditioned to like or hate. In any case, Filippa is foreign to many but I'm sure you like me will learn to love her music. In the next video, she brings the idea of fun to her music.

It just makes my day to rediscover something that's always been there but had been overlooked! Yes, one will have to dig deeper these days to find out the treasures we used to own but have totally forgotten about! That's one of the best thing being on It makes me take stocks of many things in life! :-)

<![CDATA[Mariza Quick Tip by Sharrie]]> Sat, 3 Apr 2010 07:45:56 +0000 <![CDATA[ The future of Fado]]> Interestingly, she sings the Fado!
The two doesn't seem to mesh but sometimes, life is full of contradictions! That's Mariza to me.
We both have some similarities. We live at different places from where we were born. We travel extensively and we are unorthodox. We might be considered out of place in our worlds but we survive pretty well on our own.

I don't really know that much about Mariza's private or public life. All I know is I do like her singing and rendition of the Fado.

Here are some of my favorite tunes from Mariza. Please, please listen to them. I include videos in my reviews because they serve a purpose. It is not to fill up the empty spaces. Videos are an experience and one that's dynamic. If one simply read a review and then forget about the experience of being on this site, then it just defeats the purpose. I know some of us regulars here, including me, have a lot on hands to do. We 'skimped' through reviews like its our snacks and when we come to lunch time, we are full. As they say, don't snack too much! ;-)

Mariza is mainstream. She's not to be snacked on!

While Amalia Rodrigues was the star of Fado until she passed away in 1999, Mariza is the star of the New Fado movement. Mariza has performed at 2002 FIFA World Cup and Olympics 2004. She has also sold 1 million records worldwide. That's a major accomplishment as far as Fado music is concerned.

Fado music can be a little sad, a feeling of reminiscence... what the Portuguese termed as Saudade. In any case, I love the way the Portuguese guitar sounds and how it meshes with the singer strong voice. Simply great and easy listening! ]]> Sat, 3 Apr 2010 07:44:39 +0000

Here are videos of some of my favorite songs by Whitney. Just the greatest ever!

And last but not least, this sexy number from Whitney & Enrique! When it comes to Whitney Houston, all you need to do is simply listen ... listen with your heart!

7 years of silence, she's now back!!!

<![CDATA[ Somewhere Over The Rainbow]]> Somewhere over the rainbow is another classic from those time (ie. my parents' time or even before!). Thanks to my parents I heard the original sung by Judy Garland and thanks again to Youtube I found this song on the web.

Original artist is Judy Garland but the song was also sung by a wonderful artist Doris Day. Here's Doris Day's version...

And just early this year, a 6 year old Connie Talbot made it to the final with this particular song on Britain's Got Talent (2007) but lost to Paul Potts in the final. Her debut album in November 2007 was Over the Rainbow which reached no. 1 in 3 countries.

Watch out for this star, a 6 year old, a force to be reckon with in the future... her version of I will always love you, a song sung by Whitney Houston. It's amazing, she will rival Whitney Houston one fine day!!! Amazing! She made Amanda cried over & over again on Britain's Got Talent!

<![CDATA[ The Italian]]> The Italian CD about 4 or 5 years ago. I heard it and fell in love with Patrizio's voice there and then. It was a compilation full of romantic Italian songs... well, the Italians are romantic (I figure that's so since there are so many famous operas in Italy and I love Puccini's best!), one of the songs even reminded me of the gondola in Venice! U guess it, it's O Sole Mio.

There are many oldies in this album. For those who are reminiscing old times, this is one great album to have.

You are My World, Come Prima & A Man Without Love are some of the best!

Che Sara is my favorite.

Patrizio's 2nd album was released 3 years ago (2006) titled Forever Begins Tonight.]]> Sun, 9 Aug 2009 17:25:38 +0000
