Favorite Winter Olympics Games

  • Feb 23, 2010
It's rarely that I watched so many of the Winter Olympics games. However, this Olympics is an exception. Here are some of my favorite games. What are yours?

(A Lunch Featured List)
1
Pair (Figure) Skating
The footwork, the spins, the jumps and the individual styles. It's great to see over the years how each country comes up with their respective advantage over another and how the pairs progress in real life. Lots of real life love story in this sports too. Beautiful and elegant sport!
2
Ice Dancing
I love watching ballroom dancing and when it comes to ice dancing, the colorful costumes, the story behind the music and the energetic display of sportsmanship are wonderful to watch. It's the most fun sports in the Winter Olympics where I'm concerned! :-)
3
Figure Skating - Men Singles
In the Men Singles, we see how energetic and skillful the skaters are. The spins are faster, the jumps higher and the body extensions a lot more. It's exhilarating to see when a skater managed to perform the most difficult axel successfully!
4
Figure Skating - Ladies Singles
Delicate footworks, elegant rotations and fashionable costumes make the Ladies Singles very pleasant to watch.
5
Freestyle Skiing
I'm fascinated by how much guts these jumpers have and how risky a game it is to execute these jumps. Regardless, it is one of the most spectacular sports to watch. Awesome Somersaults!
6
Curling
I discovered a new passion for this game. This is the first Winter Olympics which I come across this competitive game. It is fast paced and constantly moving, that's what I like about it. Strategic placement and skills are what make this such an excellent game to watch!
7
Snowboarding
Another energetic sport involving high jumps.
8
Ice Hockey
I was introduced to this sport when in Toronto. The Toronto Maple Leafs is a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto and is worth as much as $470m. The most valuable team in the NHL. Ice Hockey is a highly competitive game and a little too rough for my taste. However, this has to be Canada's national sport!
9
Bobsleigh
Probably one of the most dangerous. Exciting to watch. The bobsleigh itself may cost as much as a real car!
10
Short Track
I didn't think I'd have enjoyed Short Track but after watching the Ladies 1,500 m gold winner Zhou Yang's exciting win, it's like watching a miracle in action. That's addictive :-) Zhou Yang was the only Chinese contestant in the event, the youngest, but what a spectacular win that has been!

What did you think of this list?

There's a lot of skating on this list ;P  You've got me interesting in freestyle skating, and I'm going to have to look up curling because for as much talk there is about it, I still don't know what it is :x Thanks for sharing, Sharrie! :)

Curling reminded me of bowling. Have you watch a game of two by now? :-)
