Buying shoes has become so ordinary and common for most women these days, that owning 30-40 pairs isn't uncommon. Yet, we never stop to realize that a young child in a developing country walks barefoot everyday, picking up diseases that ultimately will harm their body.

TOMS has opened me eyes to the gift of giving to those less fortunate AND their shoes happen to be super comfortable. Jump on board and help out a child.

Hint: My personal favorite are the natural canvas classic shoes that go with everything and anything.

<![CDATA[ Tom, You Have Stolen My Heart]]> I think the idea behind TOMS shoes is great! They are really trying to make a difference in the world one step at a time (pun intended) through fashion. It's wonderful that these shoes have really caught on as a major trend among hipsters.

If I knew nothing about the concept behind these shoes though and caught sight of them, I would probably hate them. Frankly, I think they're kind of ugly. I am probably a horrible person for admitting this, but from a striclty fashionable point of view.....not so much.

I'm fairly certain I cannot be the only person in the world that feels this way, so that makes me think that this is an even more exciting trend. Why? Fashionistas and Fashionistos are not buying these kicks because they are made out of the most gorgeous and rare materials or because they elongate the leg or because they are constructed using the newest and greatest technology. No. People are buying these shoes because it helps others, and really, that makes these shoes the most beautiful ones I have ever seen.

Sorry Jimmy. Sorry Manolo. Sorry Christian. Tom's the new man in town.

Check out for more trends that are taking over your town!

<![CDATA[ In Desperate Need!]]> I have seen all the hype about TOMS Shoes, but have yet to get my hands on a pair (I know, save your gasps). I think they are a perfect pair for just about anything to achieve a casual, carefree vibe. Plus, they pretty much scream spring/summer, so what am I waiting for?

I'm really digging the pale yellow Bridgeports. I picture wearing them with some white linen shorts and a breezy button-up for an extra preppy look. While the price is typically a little more than I shell out for shoes (I'm a bonafide Target girl), they are definitely still within reason. And since a pair is donated to a child in need, then I'd say money well spent.

Looks like I'm about to bust out my debit card and spend the very small remainder of my student loans on a pair of casual-chic TOMS once and for all.]]> Thu, 29 Apr 2010 18:25:09 +0000
<![CDATA[ You don't want to miss out on TOMS Shoes new styles!]]> Light Blue Bridgeport Linen Classics or the Red Newport Cordones, then you need to hit up the TOMS' Web Site right away! Wear them when you're walking to those summer classes you are inevitably dreading or when you're dancing to the harmonies of Dave Matthews Band at Bonnaroo this summer! The Vegan Classics now have funky and colorful patterns to pair with any floral or striped summer romper! And can you believe it? TOMS Shoes has a page dedicated to Wedding Styles including silver and gold glitter TOMS. Don't miss this opportunity to have the newest styles on your feet. Plus you know the brand motto, One for One. When you buy a pair of TOMS, another pair will be donated to a shoeless child. Join TOMS Shoes Club at IU if you are in the Bloomington area and want to join the movement or visit for more information.

TOMS recently just added a "TOMS LOVES MOMS" Mother's Day campaign, so if you haven't bought Mom a gift yet, buy her a pair of Yellow Portsmouth Cordones or Seaport Vegan Classics. The new styles are definitely something to look forward to, but I love the classic TOMS just as much. So if I have the opportunity to buy the old or new, I say why not both?]]> Thu, 29 Apr 2010 05:49:50 +0000

Strictly speaking, we only need a pair of shoes at any point in time. However, as with handbags, things have to match, don't they? And looks can make or break the deal, won't they? I wonder if a man ever fall for a woman based on the shoes she put on the first time they meet? I supposed not. In all earnest, I think height does matter when it comes to attraction. Why do we women love shoes so much, if not to attract the opposite sex like the peacock does?

Let me think... it goes way back to Cinderella's days, I believe. Fairy tales and the fact that shoes give a girl a sense of oomph and an elegance (on a pedestal). That's it, isn't it? Whatever the reasons, be it conscious or subconscious, you can hardly find a girl with only a pair of shoes in this world. Even if they are all track shoes, they are a great many pairs of different styles and colors. Sometimes, two of the same pairs! Incredible, isn't it? Our fascination with shoes?

Come to think of it, over the course of my life, I've had countless number of shoes. May be even more than 200! I have lost count! How about you?

Well, shoes are shoes. Then there are other shoes. So, what do I like in general? Depends on the occasions and the seasons. I've had boots that can withstand -40 deg and also sandals that feel great on a 40 deg C day! Generally though, in my younger days, looks are of utmost importance. Now? Comfort! Yes, your shoes don't lie... or rather, your feet don't. When you get past a certain age, high heels on long hours will be a great torture. You figure you no longer need to impress the man, even if he's the president of the country. That's just life... Although, I don't think Imelda Marcos thought so! ;p

No matter how crazed I am, these are shoes I won't be caught in...
Take a look & if you find it funny enough, laugh! Enjoy...

While I hoard sandals in disgusting amounts, I have a newfound love for the wedge. I've been keep my eye on a few pairs out there, particularly an inexpensive black pair from Target. From printed canvas slingbacks to structured leather versions, the wedge is an easy way to get into springtime fashion. The best part? Even the highest of wedges (my ultimate favorite) don't make your feet go into a coma. Comfy and fashionable? I'll take it. <![CDATA[ Want To Keep Your Feet Warm And Dry? Purchase a pair of These.]]> If you need a pair of all weather waterproof boots, then this is the pair for you. I usually purchase mine from a place called Berry Brothers on Indianapolis Blvd , in Hammond Indiana. This is the only place that I could find that would properly fit the boots to my feet, so that they are comfortable all day long. These are not cheap, they will cost right around one hundred dollars or more depending on what your size is. I wear a 9 EEE, and have been very lucky that every time that I went into their shop, they have had my size. I have to wear insulated boots all year long, because I get blisters from the non-insulated ones.

These boots are made of all weather leather, you can even step in water over six inches in depth without any seeping inside. There's only one seam that runs around your foot, and a very tough leather. These are very warm and will help with those very cold winter days, at least 30 to 40 degrees below zero. There is a shank inside of the sole that will help with the support of your foot. This also has a very nice arch support. If you protect your boots with mink oil or a waterproof spray, this will help prolong the life of the boots even though they are already waterproof. This will help, especially if you are a welder. The sparks will bounce off of the top of your boots and the leather laces that come with these boots will last for quite a while. This also has seven eyelets that will not rust while you are walking through the snow or water. It will also help if you purchase a boot warmer to dry out the inside of your boot, because of the sweat that your foot produces.

I have been using this brand name of boots for over thirty years, and have found them to be very durable and able to withstand the harsh Indiana winters. There's nothing worse than having cold or wet feet, if you have to work 12 hour days in the mills or on the lakefront. These boots are made very rugged and with the steel shank that is built inside of the sole, you should have no trouble with the support of standing all day.
These are very comfortable, even after twelve hours of construction work. There have been times, that I would've had to wear rubber boots over these because it was so cold outside. But, when you think about it, what if I did not have these boots and purchased a less superior brand, and how cold my feet would be.

For only one hundred dollars, that's not a bad price if you value your feet a lot. There's nothing worse than working all day and your feet being cold and wet. So, if you purchase a pair of these you won't have to worry.

<![CDATA[Ballet Flats Quick Tip by EcoMama]]> Thu, 20 Aug 2009 01:41:25 +0000 <![CDATA[ My Adidas walk through concert doors and roamed all over coliseum floor- Run DMC]]>
I remember the first time I tried on my first pair of Adidas shell top classics and they fit perfectly! They were all white. I asked the salesman if he could double check that my big toe wasn't crushed against the edge and that the snug fit was correct. Could it be possible? I found shoes that fit and weren't the L.A. Gear hightops or Keds sneakers that I was stuck with when I was growing up.

My first pair of shell tops lasted me forever. As a teenage girl that skateboarded pretty much 24/7 and ruined every pair of shoes she owned within a couple of weeks, this was great news to my mom.

Also, great news to my mom is that the shell top Adidas I had fallen in love with usually only cost around $40-$60 as opposed to the more expensive shoes we had had to buy to fit my freaky feet.

Lifestyle Choice:
After Run DMC's opening lines of roaming all over coliseum floors through the last "...we started in the alley/ now we're chillin in Cali/I won't trade my Adidas for a beach in Bali", "My Adidas" single-handedly saved the struggling Adidas empire and put it right in the center of the hip-hop universe.

This is where you'll also find one of the reasons why I rated it a four and not a five. I love breakdancing which requires a lot of footwork because I'm a freestyle dancer and not a power mover. When I buy Adidas, I have to wear the sole in before I can glide easily on dancefloors. When I buy Pumas, I can do it right away.

The other reason I rated Adidas a four is that the shell top classics that I fell in love with has become a rarity, even after I tried bribing the Lady Footlocker employee with $150. However, I am also one of those girls that once you say something is not available, I will find it. Luckily for you Lunchers, I found my much loved shell tops! They are now called Superstar II, Running White/White to be exact (the all white ones are much more difficult to locate then the white with black stripe version that Run DMC refers to) and run around $50-$65.]]> Mon, 20 Apr 2009 20:51:50 +0000
