I Converted from Asics to Brooks

I'm a longtime runner. My mom will eagerly pull out my varsity jacket from high school to show off cross country and track awards (and then I'll point out that it's my brother's, and I wasn't league champion anything...). But I have to be honest, I'm not a running shoe expert. I've really only run in 3 brands, but of those, I've picked my winner: Brooks.

In high school, it was Nike. I had to in order to be cool.

In college, I had some friends who ran competitively, and they swore by Asics. I tried them, and I really liked them. I replaced pair after pair with Asics (even when living in Niketown -- Eugene, OR). It didn't seem to bother me that my running career was hampered by recurring injuries.

One day, after a promotion, I let myself go to the fancy running store instead of to the Big 5 sale display. I tried on other shoes. I found out that I pronate a bit. I went home with a pair of Brooks Adrenaline. They were comfortable. They served me well.

After about 3 pairs of those, I went back to the fancy running store to re-evaluate. I didn't have any problems with the Brooks, but I didn't realize there would be something better than the Asics until I tried. I jogged around the store in multiple other brands -- Asics again, Nike, Saucony, Adidas ... each had something that rubbed the wrong way or felt heavy or awkward. I'm still in Brooks. I recommend them.

They're supportive, but lightweight. They rarely come out with hideous colors.  They can handle a whole lot of miles. They have good traction on dirt trails or wet roads.

The fact that Brooks rarely come out with "hideous colors" is definitely a plus! I've been looking for a pair of sneakers to replace my old pink-and-grey Asics. Do you know where Brooks sneakers are usually sold?

I swear by this brand of running shoes!

Several years ago, I discovered the joy of running. Nothing is more relaxing than getting up early, lacing up your running shoes, turning on your iPod and hitting the open road.     Back in the day I gave into fancy marketing by Nike. I was convinced that strapping on those Nike Shox would help me run better and faster. An added bonus was that they were pink. Can't beat that...or so I thought.    I remember the first day I took those shoes out for a run along …
