Many feel It Was Written could not measure up to the masterpiece that was Illmatic, while some believe it to be on equal ground. Personally, I just feel it was a very solid follow up, and Nas was on point with his storytelling qualities such as in tracks like I Gave You Power and The Message. He also had a major hit in the mainstream track If I Rule the World which still remains as one of the best songs in his catalogue. The production was also spot on for the most part, something that would later on become an issue for later Nas albums. Although flawed, this is still a decent enough album. Full review coming soon.

If I Ruled The World is a classic. Black Girl Lost and Street Dreams as well as the two you mentioned helped make this album memorable. I mean, it did chart at #1 which is what most people tend to forget. Looking forward to these kick ass reviews coming up- I owe us a few too!

Yeah, a lot of people choose to forget that and focus on the Illmatic comparisons. This is a solid album that still holds up. I have several music reviews coming mainly for next month. We both been slacking.

There just seems to be SO much to write about that by the time I find time for music, something else comes up. I have to make a special effort though, especially for the Community!
