Maybe I'm spoiled, but I like my Acme Made Slick Case for iPad (Matte Black) better. For one thing, this case has no padding. Now at first I didn't like the padding on the Acme --mainly because it adds weight-- but after looking at the lack of padding with this CASE-ZML I've changed my mind. I like the feeling of having some protection just as much as I like that there is zipper that fully closes the case, thus keeping keys, pens, whatnot from scratching the screen.

For another thing, the cover stains easily and it doesn't have enough material 'overlap' on the top to keep my fingers from accidentally touching the screen. This latter means that in using Safari that I accidentally send myself off to ad sites. Or to put it another way, this cover doesn't add, ergonomically, to holding the iPad for long periods of time.

Other the plus side, this case has a nice feel with good access to the ports (certainly better than the Acme). It is not, however, as steady as I thought it would be when it is stood all-the-way up. It wobbles like a Weeble and won't stay upright in the 'vertical' position. It does better propped up in the more 'horizontal' position where it provides a good angle for typing and viewing.

Finally, this cover picks up stains. We took ours traveling --all of us using it, including the kids-- and it's absorbed some yucky looking stains.

THE SKINNY:::
Amazon won't let we reviewers rant about prices, but you should definitely shop around. Prices vary wildly.

This case is light weight and allows the iPad to be propped up, but it wobbles.

The "overlap" on the top isn't wide enough. I have found that in holding it that I'm constantly touching the screen and sending the Safari browser off to advertising sites when my finger accidentally touches an ad.

It does not close so as to keep extraneous objects out. It has minimal padding, which is probably fine for most folks.

A lot of this you know, is personal preference. Heavy/light, padded/not. For me, I took the iPad on vacation with this case and wasn't all that impressed. In fact, if something happened to this one, I wouldn't buy another.

Note: some people have commented on the Apple site that this case has warped and bent. I wish they had made those observations before I bought this.

The official Apple iPad Case is beautifully constructed. It is made of a very soft material but still sturdy. The iPad sits securely and tightly in place. The cover bends back easily and you can even prop it up at an angle just by inserting the cover into a flap on the back. The holes for the power, dock port, volume and headphones are perfect - no overlapping. I don't have to worry about scratching the front or back of my iPad when carrying or laying it around. I only wished that it had a clear …
