The second book in the "Twilight Saga" by Stephenie Meyer.
< read all 95 reviewsi will say right off the bat that this is my least favorite book in the twilight saga. i found myself angry a lot while reading it. (if you havn't read the book and don't want to know what happens, stop reading here!) in the first few chapters edward decides that bella is so unsafe in his world that it would be better for her if he and his family leave and never return. so of course im mad at edward for leaving, for one because hes my favorite character, and for two because hes just hurting himself more since he loves her more than anything else. i think i actually cried the first time i read the breakup scene. so then bella of course suffers a major nervious breakdown without her better half, and i felt so bad for her. but then she turns to my least favorite character, jacob for comfort. not that theres anything wrong with her needing friends to help her through but come on hes only bin gone 6months and you little friendship moves along to something else way to fast! so then as we go through chapter after chapter of jacobs neverending attempts at bellas heart, and she finally starts to falter and is ready to give up on edward all togeather when she decides to jump off a cliff recreationally ( though at that point i think i was hoping for non-recreational cliff jumping i was so annoyed with her) and alice sees her jump and assumes shes committed suicide. so of course edward hears of the "sucide" and goes to die himself. this results in a very interesting trip to italy for bella. but before she leaves jacob tries to convince her to stay with him and turn her back on her true love ( he continues to sink lower and lower on my liking scale with every chapter). after saving edward from an untimely death they all return to forks where edward and bella pick up like they were never apart. well edward does anyway, bella however can't seem to let go of jacob even though she claims that edward is the only one she will ever want, does that sound selfish to anyone else?and then the readers are left with a fablious cliffhanger ending in wich edward agrees to let bella join his immortal relm IF she marrys him in the mortal one first. personally i expected her to jump all over the offer, but no no not bella shes so repulsed by the idea of marrying him that she can't think of anything else but how much shes against the idea.
