About johnvincentmoon
I'm a filmmaker, and as much as that means I love movies, reading is a passion I've always had and am always going to have. Often my first response to a book I love is a desire to adapt it -- something that I know seems counterintuitive to most people. But I'm a firm believer in film's potential as an art, and in the separation of artistic mediums -- I understand the limitations of storytelling in film as compared to the novel or the graphic novel. I also know that wonderful adaptations can be done and have been done, and should be done more often. One only has to take the time to really understand what are those key elements of the book that can be effectively translated; and of course it doesn't hurt if fans are willing to allow the film its own life as a work.

That said, most adaptations (like most films) are shit, and I hope to add to the small pool of good ones someday.
