Documentaries that make you think

  • Jan 19, 2010
My list of favorite documentaries to make one think about the world they live in. I guarantee at least one of these will make you question; "what can I do to make a difference?" At the very least, each one of these presents interesting insights that ask the question why and provide for food for thought.

- Enjoy
Why We Fight
An eye opening look at Eisenhower's warning of the 'Military Industrial Complex' and how we have continued to feed the beast.
No End in Sight
Pulls together the facts on how the invasion of iraq was sold to the american people and how much was overlooked to initiate the invasion..
The Corporation
This documentary looks at the impact of treating corporations as legal entities.
Who Killed the Electric Car?
We were ahead of our time... GM had the right car, it had customers. This makes you wonder, what if GM backed the car, and took control of the market, would we be in a recession today, would we be at war?
Food, Inc.
You won't look at food the same way again after watching this movie about the business of food.
King Corn
A great documentary that makes you wonder if we really need agricultural subsidies? What's wrong with real sugar?
Maxed Out
A great look at debt and the business of debt collection.
Jesus Camp
A look at a specific religious camp and the people involved.
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room
The most frustrating thing about this story is listening to the energy brokers discussing and laughing about how they took advantage of their customers.
Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price
An in-depth look at the impact Walmart has on local communities.
controversial docu-movie
A look at Christianity, 911, and the banking system.
Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism
Who can we trust to deliver the news? Is there such a thing as separation of Press and Business.

What did you think of this list?

Nice list. You have several of my favorites in here. I really like WHY WE FIGHT because by todays standard's Eisenhower is so liberal that he couldn't get elected. He definitely called it in his exit speech. It's too bad that no one seems to have taken him seriously. I have 2 lists of documentaries if you're interested. One is on page 3 of my lists and the other is on page 6. I've been thinking of going another one.

Great stuff! That's what I missed of not having cable TV where I'm right now. No, it's not being censored, just that I've so many movies & TV dramas I could catch that I'm not having enough time in the day as it is!
