About Me

I'd like to share what I know about: Anime, Seo

I'd like to discover more about: Seo, Japan

I'm a man of varied interests, ranging from good literature to social media, anime to Internet technologies. I'm a self-described Allogenes (stranger), as I tend to always feel like an outsider, and I always use my outsider status as a way to observe other people. I'm truly an otaku (Japanese for "nerd"). I work on the … more

Innocent Love Title Frame
I have to admit that I feel a bit weird, being a manly man, writing a review of a romantic drama, but I have to say that I really liked this J-dorama (Japanese drama). Yes, admittedly, I have a bit of …

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei DVD, volume 1 (cover)
Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, which translates as "Good-bye, Mr. Despair," is an anime about Itoshiki Nozomu, a suicidal and perpetually negative high school teacher, who, in each episode, takes various …

Hyakko: all the girls from the school
In terms of animes, Hyakko started out with a lot of potential: a lot of cute and endearing characters, the always-potent backdrop of high school, amazing artwork, and fan service galore.     Ayumi …

A couple of Halloweens ago, I wanted to dress up as a Bleach character. Since I can't go without my glasses, I had to choose a character that also wore glasses; so I decided to go with Captain Aizen Sousuke. …

As a single guy, one of my biggest problems with cooking is finding recipes to feed just one person. Leftovers are a big problem because I don't know when I'll eat at home next ... plus, I like diversity …

Toradora! Main Characters
I wasn't quite sure how I'd like yet another anime about high school classmates who are dealing with how to confess their love to the person their interested in, but I really enjoyed this anime. It's …

Hi Keith! I was wondering if you have heard of what's new at Lunch since the last time your were here. I think the new micro review feature (140 characters or less) is a ton of fun! Have you seen the new lists? Check out @jbeswick's list Top Ten Things I Hope Disappear in 2010. Feel free to send any questions my way!

Hey, Keith, no new reviews yet? I guess you're taking sort of a break. Oh, speaking of anime, there's a great review of "Beck" here by my bud, trashcanman. Check it out...

Hi Keith, I read your profile and I was interested in the concept of Allogenes. Wikipedia was of no help to be me! So what exactly is it? I'm curious because sometimes I feel like an outsider, too, observing the world inside, so I was wondering if that Allogenes describes me as well.

Hi Debbie. Allogenes in a very general sense is that feeling of being a "stranger in a strange land," but it's even more fundamental than that. It's a very Gnostic idea that you're a stranger to this reality. In fact, there's a book in the Gnostic Nag Hammadi Library called "Allogenes." Of course, I think that's generally accompanied by a sense of forlornness, which is often seen as the first step on the path to enlightenment. ... I hope that helps! :-D

That's a much better explanation than I read on Wikipedia, thanks!

I love how you include videos with your anime reviews. If I wanted to watch some of online (I'll take your advice on Hyakko and assume that there's no storyline — but I am interested in Toradora), do you have any suggestions of where I should go?
April 12, 2009
Hey LingEatsCake! YouTube has a fair number of episodes, though they're broken down into thirds because of the size limitations. Voshvosh.com has full episodes of Toradora!, and you can download the fansubs at Coalguys.com. Enjoy!!
