Dastardly Disney 2.0: More Of The Best Villains From The Mouse That Walt Built!

  • Dec 6, 2010
First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who showed some love to my first Dastardly Disney list.  It drew a lot more attention than I ever expected it too.  With that in mind (and with the input of a couple of fellow Lunchers), I offer up a second heaping helping of classic Disney villains.

Once again, I'm only focusing on the animated films produced by Disney and Disney/Pixar.  A list of live action villains might be in the works in the very near future!

Enjoy!
1
Yzma
Voiced by the lovely and, sadly, deceased Eartha Kitt, Yzma took control of Kuzco's empire while he was "away."  She had almost as many lethally funny one-liners as did David Spade in The Emperor's New Groove.

2
Scar
The Lion King is quite possibly Disney's greatest modern classic, combining music and a wonderful story with brilliant animation.  Of course, without the diabolical Scar as the main antagonist of the film, it wouldn't have been half as wonderful as it turned out.  Jeremy Irons outdid himself as Simba's meddling and power hungry uncle.
3
Gaston
If narcissism ever had a face, it would be Gaston's mug from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  Much like Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gaston is scarier than most of Disney's villains for the mere fact that it is his human qualities (pride, lust, envy, vanity) that make him evil.
5
Ratcliffe

As scary as some of Disney's supernatural villains can be, it is the human ones that scare me the most.  Ratcliffe, from Pocahontas, is just one more of the vile men that stand as the primary antagonists of Disney's animated tales.  His lust for power and his greed make him a despicable character.

7
Clayton
Much like Ratcliffe, Gaston, Frollo, and other human characters, Tarzan's Clayton shows us all what greed can do to a man.  Clayton is a terrible person, and it shows with glaring perfection in Brian Blessed's vocal performance of the character.  Also, along with the Queen from Snow White, Clayton has one of the most shocking and violent death scenes you'll ever see in an animated film for children.  It's included in the clip I've added here.  You've been warned.
9
Hopper

When I saw A Bug's Life in the theater, I thought that it was one of the best films ever put out by Disney/Pixar.  I still believe that.  Why?  Because of the fear-mongering and oppressive Hopper, performed by Kevin Spacey.  Hopper is one bad dude who, unlike many Disney villains, is actually smart enough to know that his power can easily be lost if just a few ants stand up to him.  A brilliant villain in a wonderful film, Hopper's tops!

10
Randall Boggs
Sully's biggest rival on the scream floor, Randall Boggs is the shifty, chameleon-like lizard who wants nothing more than to reach the top of the leaderboard in the scream department.  He's demise, while not necessarily fatal, is hilarious to watch!

Another top-notch list! Some of these are definitely lesser-known villains, but nevertheless they bring something different to the typical mold of villains back in the day. Thanks!

Despite looking extremely cool, I have to admit that I'm a dork. I grew up on the outskirts of the small town of Oberlin, LA. I have since relocated to the Lake Charles, LA area.I love my home state … more
