Thanksgiving's On The Way!!

Okay, technically this list doesn't have a whole lot to do with the actual holiday of Thanksgiving. I'm pretty much using it as an excuse to make a list of some of the most awesome birds (the real deal and fictional) in honor of our good friend the turkey. Since many turkeys will be consumed in just a few weeks, I figured I owed it to them to make a list in their honor. Here's a silly, completely pointless list that I hope brightens up your day.

Turkey gets top billing on this list for the simple fact that without turkeys, Thanksgiving would be just another day of the week AND we'd never have a real use for cranberry sauce.  Here's to turkeys all over the world!

Why is Big Bird number two?  If Elmo hadn't shown up a few years ago, Big Bird would still be dominating Sesame Street.  Without Big Bird, Sesame Street would be nothing more than an overgrown puppet show.  Besides, he's the only bird I know who has legit "street" cred!

The bald eagle is an iconic symbol of American freedom. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is as cool as seeing one of these beautiful creatures take to the sky.

Brown pelican
Not only has this beautiful and unique creature made a strong comeback since almost being wiped out of existence a few years ago, the brown pelican perfectly symbolizes the uniqueness and resilience of the great state of Louisiana!

Okay, other than Big Bird, this is probably the only winged creature I'd ever be scared of if it was ticked off at me!  These birds have no need for big wings 'cuz they can just run you down!

Could I have a bird list and not have Larry Bird on it?  That's like having a Things That Choke list and not including the Ohio State Buckeyes on it!!!

Peregrine Falcon
Peregrine Falcons are some of the most beautiful birds in the world in my opinion.  Oh, and they swoop down and snatch small creatures from the ground before you can say, "Shazam!"

What's the word?  Thunderbird!  From what I've heard, it's hard to find this cheap wine these days.  Way back in the 1990's, myself and a friend would purchase this stuff from a local Texaco station.  We always got weird looks when we bought it, but this swill got us through many semesters!

What a shame you lost all but one of your large pix! The only one that remained is the turkey, but at least it was the tasty one who hung in there! Larry Bird =) that was cute.
