Some of My Favorite Graphic Novels

These are just a few of my favorite graphic novels, in no particular order
1
9216F91D3C1C8AE5F076D481F5CD964
Funny but very intellectual story about the author's life and self-discovery. Many literary allusions make it interesting.
2
An addicting coming of age and love story with interesting and emotional illustrations.
See the full review, "Blankets: A Beautiful Graphic Novel".
3
89FD9A57FFB7874C17242EEBB264D9B
The author tells his father's story during World War 2 using mice, pig, and other animal characters. This is by far one of my very favorites that I always suggest to people who think graphic novels are just silly or just for kids.
4
Summer Blonde
A few short stories that are so thought-provoking they left me almost breathless. The personal quality is so nearly uncomfortable but it just made me want more.
See the full review, "Summer Blonde Actually Makes Me Think".
5
Black Hole by Charles Burns
A hilarious but believable science fiction story that is totally the author's unique style.
See the full review, "Charles Burns, You Have My Attention".
7
82F929901E431B96D7097A398DE67C3
An interesting look into the author's life as a child during a rough time in a rough place.
8
Barefoot Gen, Vol. 1: A Cartoon Story of Hiroshima
Volume 1 in a series of graphic novels about the bombing of Hiroshima, these stories oddly add humor to an emotional time in Japanese history making for an incredibly powerful series.
9
Castle Waiting
A funny series of related stories make up this vaguely familiar fantasy graphic novel.

I've seen a few of these. I always though Raymond Pettibon drew that Black Hole book since his art work is similar to the Black Flag flyers from years ago.

All of the titles and covers of these book look really interesting!  I've only ever read the 3rd one, though, so I'd love to hear a bit about what you have to say about these :)  Thanks for sharing, Laura!

I've updated it... I hope this makes it easier to understand why I picked these titles!
