Andis AGR Clippers Will Help You See The Way Of The Future.

I have been dog grooming for over ten years and I have always used a corded Andis hair clippers. These have been very dependable until you get them submerged in water. No clipper does well when that happens. So, when that happen I decided to purchase a clipper that will take me into the twentieth century. When I purchased the corded model, I spent $100.00 and I got several years of usage out of them and had not intended on ever replacing them. But, since they got ruined I had to replace them I figured that I may as well spend the extra money and get a really good set of clippers. The only problem with this product is the price, this one cost me $260.00 and that was over two years ago. You can find this in any grooming magazine such as Pet Edge.

The model # is AGR (64800)and is designed for all day use. You can use this continually for an hour straight without needing a charge, this does so because of the high capacity battery that it comes equipped with. This has a speed of 3800 rpm and uses NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery. The transformer unit uses a Sensa Recharging system to recharge your battery in less than one hour. This transformer also has a refresh(also known as a trickle charge) button to help the battery recharge fully overnight. You are also able to remove the battery and charge it up separately from the main body of the clippers. This also has a break resistant body, even though you should not have to worry about anything but the blades breaking.  You can also swap this with a corded model if you wanted to. I have used this clipper with Andis, Oyster, Ultra Edge, Top Performance, and Ceramic Edge blades. This set of clippers is compatible with most detachable type blades.

What you get inside of the case is a battery operated clipper, one number 10 size ceramic blade, a removable battery pack, a sense charging transformer, a 4 ounce bottle of clipper oil, and a manual. This is for the professional groomer.  This clipper will give you 25% blade torque over other brands. This clipper only weighs 1lb. 1.8oz. and is 7-1/2" long x 1-3/4" in diameter. On the front side of the clippers, it has a slide on/off switch that will allow you to do continuous cutting. Plus, this also has a quick release button for the battery.

The transformer weighs 2lbs.6oz. and is 3" tall x 4" deep x 6-1/4" long. This transformer has a refresh button and two led lights that will keep you informed at all times about the status of the charge that your clippers has. There is also a 6' power cord attached to the base of this transformer. A continuous green light means that your clippers have been quickly charged.  A rapid green light means the battery pack is fully charged. A long green light means that charger is draining the battery pack, so it can do a fast charge. A short green light with a continuous red light means that your battery pack is getting a trickle charge and that the battery is either too hot or too cold to be charged quickly. A blinking green light without a red light means that it is being charged slowly because it was drained beyond use. You can also leave the clippers in its base for an indefinite amount of time. The transformer will only allow the battery to accept so much of a charge.

When I first got this home I thought that this would be a little heavy but I got used to it in a hurry. You will have to charge this for at least one hour before you start using it. This is really nice the way they have made the base pre-fit the body to fit the transformer so it will only fit in the base one way. The metal contacts will align perfectly, there is no miss matching. The fact that you do not have to worry about any power cords and getting hung up is quite nice. All of my previous blades fit on this Andis clipper with ease. You have to have the type that pop up and out with a flip of a little lever that is located right below the head of the blade. This also holds both types of blades, steel and ceramic. Once you have used the flip top blades you will never go back to manually replacing your blades. I have dropped this and had it knocked to the floor by my dogs and all it did was bounce a little. I really worried more about bending the blade instead of breaking the clippers. This has a one year limited warranty.

I have used these to cut all types of dogs from a Miniature Schnauzer, German Shepherd, Chow, Newfoundland, and Cocker Spaniels. This is excellent for all of the types of breeds that you may come across. Once you take this clipper out of the very durable case, I found a good use for it. You can use this case to hold a certain amount of tools. You can't hold all of your tools, but what you can hold inside of this case will allow you to be a little mobile. This has really surprised me, because I was so used to using the corded Andis pro edition.

I have been using this clipper for just over two years and I would not go back if I was forced to. If you can afford one of these, I would highly recommend getting one. But, if you only groom once in a while then it may not be worth the money to invest in this tool. You have to take care of this unit and keep it wiped down so that the vents do not get clogged and over heat the transformer. As long as you keep this product oiled on a regular basis this will last you for quite some time. I have also enjoyed the fact that all I have to do is grab the clippers out of the base and no more fumbling with cords.
