I'm headed down to Carmaggedon this weekend, unintentionally. I had seen this term everywhere lately on the Internet and had no clue what it was about. I asked my LA friend and she said that it was what Angelenos are calling the 405 shutdown. The 405, the most traffic heavy freeway in LA, is being shut down this weekend for construction. Panic has spread throughout LA- how will they get to LA? How will they get to the Westside? Santa Monica? How will they get out of Venice? What are they going to do?!?!?!?

I have no idea why they need to shut down the entire freeway for a whole weekend- haven't they heard of doing a little at a time and shutting down only one or two lanes? Luckily, there's fifty million freeways or backroads to get you where you need to go to in LA. Also, luckily, I've lived there before and know these alternate routes. I feel bad for all the summer tourists that have no clue what they're in store for this weekend.

Hopefully, I will survive Carmageddon this weekend!

Without inspiration and high-powered weaponry, this will never satisfy those expectations inspired by its gaming namesake.

I've not set foot on L.A. outside of LAX, and when I finally visit the city, I'll let someone else cart me.

LOL...true, true. It's definitely a good idea to have a local drive you because the driving tends to be chaotic and aggressive here. They also will have full knowledge of all necessary shortcuts.

It wasn't that big of a deal, they opened it back up much earlier and residents were begging them to keep it closed since there wasn't any traffic lol Thanks for the good luck wishes :)
