As they say, one thing leads to another. From Casablanca to Somewhere Over the Rainbow to I Will Always Love You. All classics and all sung by amazing talented artists.

I first heard the song not by its original artist but by Whitney Houston while watching her movie Bodyguard co-starring the charming Kevin Costner. It's made famous by Houston as well and it's one of the best selling singles of all time! There are a great many good songs in the movie & one of my very favorites is Run To You, sung by Whitney Houston as well.

I Will Always Love You has got great melody & lyrics and it's no wonder many people can relate to it and end up loving the music.

 Originally sung by Dolly Parton.

"

Another great version of the song by Linda Ronstadt.

"

And the newest version sung by a 6 year old Connie Talbot who made it to South Korea! Lovely!!!

Great review; like all the variations of singers in your videos posted. Sorry but I was not that impressed with the soundtrack. I did like the movie though it got cheesy and sappy in certain parts.

Thanks, James! You didn't like the soundtrack? Hmm, how come you are checking out this review? Considering I've almost 180 reviews to choose from, I'm surprised you found this one among the whole lot! Are u sure u didn't like it? ;-)

I checked out this review because I still have the CD for this soundtrack and I was curious what you wanted to say. On the Lunch home page, it does list the latest ones, so this one interested me. I did like your review, I just did not like the entire soundtrack. I did like the title song, I Will Always Love You, that's why you got three thumbs! I hope that explains it better.

Ah, got it! There is at least 2 other songs I like in the soundtrack "Run to you" & "I have nothing". I thought it's one of Whitney's best so far.

Such a misleading song; there is always an end to everything. Love does NOT conquer all.

Good film overall; the soundtrack, except for the title song was not all that great.

Not one of my favorite Whitney Houston tunes. She screams all the way through this one.

About this song

Wiki

In 1992, singer Whitney Houston recorded the song I Will Always Love You for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut. Houston was originally to record Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" as the lead single from The Bodyguard. However, when it was discovered the song was to be used for Fried Green Tomatoes, Houston requested a different song and her co-star Kevin Costner brought her Linda Ronstadt's 1975 version of "I Will Always Love You" from her album Prisoner in Disguise. Houston re-arranged the song as a soul ballad. Her record company did not feel a song with an a cappella introduction would be as successful; however, Houston and Costner insisted to maintain an a cappella intro.

Houston's version was a massive worldwide success, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. It became a regular on countdown lists: appearing at number 8 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the Past 25 Years; number 4 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s and number 1 on VH1's 100 Greatest Love Songs. The song also lists at number 68 on Billboard's Greatest Songs of all time.
