I don't have TiVO or any other television subscription, but I do tend to watch television programs via iTunes, Hulu, YouTube or other means of internet enabled show watching. And there are some awesome shows out there!
Arrested Development, IMO, is the smartest comedy ever made. Not that my family resembles the Bluths, but there are definite moments that look all too familiar. The writing is smart and the characters are all fun to watch.
The Wire changed the way I look at the world...especially how I look at racial relations. It breaks down the issues from every angle and totally smashes any notion of Us vs Them that may have existed in my mind. I wish everyone would watch this show.
I love the comic book style of Heroes and that these heroes are everyday people with amazing abilities. No capes. No crusades. Just a bunch of people dealing with what it means to be given extraordinary powers.
