These Will Last Forever In Your Wifes' Purse For Those Sweet Emergencies.

These little gems of chalky sweet tasting candy are gems when it comes to keeping those little tikes quiet during big affairs that you might be at. These have been around since the Stone Age and if you have not heard or seen these on a shelf at some mom and pop grocery store then you have been like an ostrich with their head in the sand. Everyone knows of these and seen these in some way shape or form, because they come in many shapes and sizes. These might cost a little bit in the five pound bag but individually they cost just a few cents. You can get these in the five pound bag at Costco or Sams’ club for right around twenty dollars a bag.

Description
If you purchase the individual package for a few cents you will get a roll of sweet chalking tasting candy that will melt in your mouth in seconds. These rolls will come in a clear plastic wrapper that twists at both ends. When you open them up you will notice fifteen round little pieces of different colored and flavored candy, that are ½” in diameter x 3/16” thick. You will notice that these come in orange, yellow, purple, green, white, and pink, with each one having a different flavor that match the color. These candies kind of look like a miniature tea light, and you will not get the same colors in each roll.

Ingredients and Nutrition
These are definitely not made to calm any child down but they will keep them quiet and they have these ingredients: Dextrose, Citric Acid, Calcium Stearate, Artificial Flavors and Colors (Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5 and 6 Lake, Blue 2 Lake). Each roll is considered one serving and the nutrition for the little tasty treats are as follows: one Serving Size is 1 roll equal to15 individual candies, there are 25 total Calories, and have 6 grams of Sugar, the total Carbs are only 6g, these have no fat that I can see or any sodium, protein, or vitamins/minerals.

Experiences
My wife always carries a couple of rolls of these inside of her purse for either out daughter or our grandchildren in case we are somewhere that we might be and the kids start to wine a little, then we just give them a roll of these and it will quiet any child down for a little bit. Yes, these are nothing but sugar and they have no nutritional value but these will do the job that they were meant to do and will help you out of those uncomfortable situations that you will come into with an unruly child. You will be surprised how quickly these will work for you. Your child will do as ours does and their mind will be on the candy and you can enjoy the event that you are at, even if you are in church on Sunday. These will also help those long road trips that you might be on in the summer. These will last just about forever and as far as their shelf life I do not believe that they have one.

Conclusion
I can truly say that these work, even when my wife gets out of hand once in a while and I would jokingly hand her a roll of these and tell her to put something in her mouth and then they get politely thrown back in my face. But sometimes these do work on her because she likes sweets so much.

Great title because my mom is diabetic and DOES carry them in case of actual "emergencies"..if she starts to feel her blood sugar drop she'll eat a few to get it back up! I didn't even think about using them to get kids under control. Great and thorough review!

Smarties are one of my favorite candies. Neat trick, I'm going to bring some along to my next baby-sitting gig.

About this topic

Wiki

In the United States, Smarties are a type of artificially fruit-flavored candy produced by Ce De Candy, Inc., from 1949 through the present. They are marketed in Canada under the brand name Rockets, to avoid confusion with Nestlé Smarties. The original product is the English Fizzers from Swizzels Matlow. In 1949, the brother of the chairman of Swizzels Matlow travelled to the US and established Ce De Candy. The candies bear a strong resemblance to tablet-style pills in shape and texture. One individual candy is in the shape of a cylinder with a diameter of roughly 1 cm and a height of roughly 4 mm. Larger ones have a diameter of 2.5 cm and are about 6 mm thick. Both sizes are double concave. There are 25 calories and 6 grams of sugar in a roll of Smarties. Ingredients include: dextrose (may contain corn syrup solids and/or maltodextrin), citric acid, calcium stearate, artificial flavors, colors.

Smarties come in combinations of colors within their wrapped tubes. These include white and pastels yellow, pink, orange, purple, and green. Each color's flavor is slightly different. They are usually packaged as a roll of candies wrapped in PVC. Because each package is small and inexpensive, they are often bought in bulk for occasions such as parties, parades, or Halloween.
