(Before moving any further, if you haven't already I recommend reading the intro to this list titled my Foreword.)

During my introduction which took place in the foreword, I mentioned a little about what got me started listening to hip hop and that the diss song became the most interesting to me. I delved a little into its origin along with my criteria for what makes a great diss track. I also went over my Honorable Mentions as well as cast off songs that didn't have a chance in making it. Therefore, with no more delay I will get to the first 15 tracks, and this wasn't a very easy order to come up with at all. I'm still unsure about the placement and I might feel this way for the rest of my life.

30) Canibus - Rip the Jacker (Dissing LL Cool J)

I'll get to what started this later on (hint,hint...) LL Cool J. thought he got the best of Canibus from a lyrical standpoint in their battle. In 2000 on his album G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). LL released another diss called Back Where I Belong where he believes to be putting the nails in the coffin. Canibus replied a short time later attacking LL's character and addressing some of the things said about him over LL's classic I'm Bad!.

Lyrical Beatdown:

No rapper could rap quite like I can
You know who the fuck I am, I'm the Canibus man
I had to rock to a beat like this to show you
That I'm iller than the future, the present, and the old you...

...Jack the ripper, I'ma rip the jacker
Rape a rapper with a classic from his own masters...

...I told you to leave it alone, but you was too stubborn
Now you're in a world where the hunter becomes the hunted
Your wife is scared cause she don't want to lose her husband
And somebody keeps paging you putting 4321 in...

...Even f.u.b.u. gear looks hot until it touches you
Probably because your father undoubtedly butt-fucked you
Mama said knock who out? I'll punch that bitch in the mouth
Cause she don't know what she talking about...

29) Nature - Nas Is Not (Dissing Nas)

When Nas released Stillmatic in 2001, Jay-Z was not the only rapper in his gunsights, former crew members of the Firm, Cormega and Nature, along with Mobb Deep's Prodigy, received some of his lyrical assault. Although there would be responses with more from Cormega, it was Nature who no doubt got at Nas the worst dissing him over four different beats with two being over One Mic and Nas is Like. He goes on about Nas' supposed fake image, how weak his crew the Bravehearts are, he brushes off Destroy and Rebuild claiming it to be a garbage diss, plus calls him a coward. One of the more under-rated, or perhaps unknown disses out there.

Lyrical Beatdown:

....So that you know here's the truth about Nas:
In the window so long, chipped his tooth on the bars
Nigga never got involved, he was nothing to clown...

...Beside Ether, Build and Destroy is lots of doo-doo
And even if the Bravehearts sign, it ain't poppin
Just tell 'em to make a Oochie again, if not drop 'em

....The nigga 'Pac called you out, you ain't never respond
B.I.G. put it down and you knew you was warned
Jay-Z called you out right in front of your home
Everybody call you out cuz you runnin alone

...We had a team but your thuggin' was boring
And you wouldn't have sold double if it wasn't for Lauryn...

28) Roxanne Shante - Big Mama (Dissing Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Monie Love, Isis, and Yo-Yo)

After dispatching U.T.F.O. and The Real Roxanne, Roxanne Shante was a dissing machine. She sought to make it known to everyone that she was the femcee in the game no one can fuck with. She laid down what I believe to be her best diss ever recorded, where she knocks out multiple artist in one fell swoop, completely battle ready with witty punchlines and good disses.

Lyrical Beat down:

...First up is Latifah
You roll up, and I'ma smoke that ass like reefer
Cause you ain't never in life been a star to me
Sold the fuck out trying to go R&B
Now that shit is shady
You say ladies first, well I'm the first lady...

...You say you're Lyte as a rock, you get crushed like a pebble
One word, and I'ma bag her
Watch the bitch stagger, cause I don't dig the bull dagger
To me, a butch don't deserve a mic in hand
Somebody tell her to stop acting like a man...

.....Now as for that West Coast slut
With fake-ass hair, contacts, and a padded butt
Instead of stomping to the 90's, use your brain
And stomp your ass down to Jack Lelane
You better hurry and hop on a diet plan
And keep the pork chops out the frying pan....

27) Nas - Destroy and Rebuild (Dissing Cormega, Nature, Prodigy, and Jay-Z)

When Nas released Stillmatic in 2001, annihilating Jay-Z apparently wasn't his only aim. For a very long time, fellow QB native Cormega had been pretty vocal about his feud with Nas, which began when Def Jam executive, Steve Stoute, ousted him from the Firm in favor of Nature, because Mega chose to keep it real and he didn't want to embrace The Shiny Suit era. Mega had been dissing on the mixtape scene religiously. It was time for Nas to address him directly, while at the same time clean up his hood and prepare for rebuilding. Nas almost seem to be having fun with this track. Nature, Prodigy, and Jay-Z got a few slaps, but Cormega was horribly belittled.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...Cory changed his name to arr, whatever
Cornchip, Buckwheat lookalike, its Mega
Right, Mega was his name sorry about that
But its so hard to put a cowards name in my rap
Always acting tough, a jokester be fronting
He got snuffed, he got shot in the thigh, he did nothing...

...Back to Cor, got him a deal but his rhymes was whack
Def Jam mad that he signed the contract
Now he got jealous and mad at my shine
Making silly tapes, I'm always on his mind...

...Nature moved to Marcy
Man, dick riding Nature, nothing else to say
Man Nature moved to Marcy...

...P how many times aint you shamed that
Jungle was busting his gun to get your weak chain back
They dont respect you a checks due for me for your fame..

...Hoes play your position cause you'll never be king
Even Jigga want the crown, (how that sound?) poor thing...

26)Tim Dog - Fuck Compton (Dissing N.W.A.)

2Pac and Biggie receives a lot of undeserving credit for kicking off the East Coast/West Coast feud. In all reality, that all popped off right here with this track back in 1991. Tim Dog clearly did not care much for the West Coast rappers. You want to know how little he cared? So little to the point where he completely denounced the entire culture from gheri curls to colors. He rode on the entire NWA crew and even took big shots at Dre's girl and the city of Compton.

Lyrical Beatdown:

Oh shit motherfuckers step to the rear and cheer
Cause Tim Dog is here
Let's get down to the nitty gritty
And talk about a bullshit city
Talking about niggas from Compton
They're no comp and they truly ain't stomping...

...(Why you dissing Eazy?) 'cause the boy ain't shit
Chew him with tobacco, and spit him in shit
I crush Ice Cube, I'm cool wit Ice T
but N.W.A. ain't shit to me!
Dre, beating on Dee from "Pump it Up"
Step to the Dog and get fucked up!

...Having that gang war
we wanna know what you're fighting for
Fighting over colors?!
All that gang shit is for DUMB motherfuckers!

...You really think that you can rhyme?
Well come and get some of this loaded tech nine
Bo, bo, bo, shots are cold gunning
and you'll REALLY be "100 Miles and Runnin'

25) KRS - Build & Destroy (Dissing X-Clan)

Here goes a very interesting battle. This had nothing to do with jealousy, who's the baddest on the mic, money, or betrayal; it was a clashing of different viewpoints between intelligent men. X-Clan are pro-black, while KRS is pro-human and this led to X-Clan taking various subliminal shots at KRS. Brother J felt KRS was out of his element and needed to be schooled. KRS did not take this lightly, he not only went on to destroy them as emcees, but he puts their beliefs on the spot using plenty of references, making this one of the more thought provoking battles to touch wax. But to be straight up though, KRS annihilated X-Clan.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...The white man ain't the devil I promise
You want to see the devil take a look at Clarence Thomas
Now you're saying, "Who?" like you a owl
Throw in the towel, the devil is Colin Powell
You talk about being African and being black
Colin Powell’s black, but Libya he’ll attack
Libya’s in Africa, but a black man
will lead a black man, to fight against his homeland
An accomplice to the devil is a devil too
The devil is anti-human, who the hell are you?

...This shit is crazy! Your remarks don't faze me!
People have a problem with me, cause I ain't lazy
I talk on vinyl then I act
What have you done, besides critique KRS-One?
I create organizations
Without organization, there'll be no black nation
What the fuck are you really saying?
You ain't a human while your music's boomin anti-human
I'm assumin -- if you ain't human you're a beast...

...Yes I am the original teacher
You gotta study the Qu’ran, Torah, Bahavaghita
The Bible, Five Baskets of Buddha Zen
And when you’ve read them shits, READ them shits again!
But watch what you’re repeatin
If you don’t know the history of the author
you don’t know what you’re reading!
Yeah I’m still the original
Leaving MC’s lyrically miserable
Their criminal syllables are minimal, show me respect BOY
Cause I build and destroy!

24) Jay-Z - Dig a Hole (Dissing Cam'Ron & Dame Dash)

When Rocafella records broke up and Cam'Ron left with Dame, Cam' and Dipset were releasing disses on Jay-Z. As a fan of Jay-Z, and since I never liked Dipset, I remember waiting for what seemed like forever for Jay to pull a Takeover on these guys. He eventually responded on his album Kingdom Come and attacked Cam mentioning he didn't go plat until he was down with the Roc, plus Dame backstabbing and getting in his ear; with a smashin' beat and chorus. Leave it to Jay, to put out a diss that can bang in your whip and in clubs.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...Niggaz like, "Hov, why don't you get at old boy?"
Why kill a puppet and leave Geppetto alive?
Why not wait to catch 'em all together?
This way you dig one big hole one time...

...It's like the disciples dissin' Jesus, becomin' His rivals
Shunnin' the one thing that they owed they life to
You let that man hype you to go against your idol
Knowin' good and goddamn well this what I do...

...He's sellin the low twos... only time you went plat
My chain was around ya neck, thats an actual fact

23) Company Flow - Linda Trip (Dissing Sole)

Here's a very interesting one. Sole who was the co-founder of the record label, had believed that group member El-P dissed him on a song. El-P claimed he was mistaken, still, Sole felt reason to respond and he recorded his own diss Dear Elpee. El-P called him up and recorded the conversation. Sole mentioned that he didn't want problems and he actually wants to be down with Company Flow, because he loves them. Sole didn't realize he had just committed a self-Ether, due to El-P recording the conversation and adding it to his diss, thus, smashing him for being a closet groupie. Linda Trip is regarded by many hip hop fans as one of the biggest massacres in history.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...You little lying motherfucker, you know you kiss my ass
and then you try to ("change up the past")
Who fell into their own hari kiri kit when they lied to themselves?
Self-abuse by selling lies, self-destructive
I'm Captain Kirk, Spock and Lieutenant Uhura on the away team
You're Henson Lebowitz - the sacrificial lamb for the episode
You beamed to the wrong planet this time, with a hot pink phaser and one line
before getting morphed to faggot dust for not knowing our status

...You have an obsession, respect it
from now on, you're immortalized playing yourself on MY record - congradu-fucking-lations!
Isn't that what you wanted, idiot?!
There's more than a little difference between yours and mines existence
This is my ride and your not commandeering it
The only thing advanced about your music is that you need a computer to hear it

...This is one of those precious moments of ferocious paybacks
Closest to the perfect scenario you made a move but it backfired
Magnified by the fact that you tried to project a persona
Of confrontation by subverting a crew who in fact you idolized...

...You don't even deserve this moment--do you?
You haven't paid enough dues to get a battle--pupil!!
Run along and do your little interviews with your fantasy life distortion
Next time you reveal your true self make sure that no one records it, stupid!!

22) Jadakiss - Checkmate (Dissing 50 Cent)

When 50 supposedly buried Ja Rule, he wanted to make sure there was no way the man was coming back. When Jadakiss and Fat Joe featured on Ja Rule's track New York, it was time for the G-Unit boss to destroy a few more careers he thought. Jada had just gotten out of a heated battle with Beanie Sigel and Rocafella. He was clearly still in the battle mindset, and he went to show 50 he is not Ja Rule. Over Big Noyd's instrumental for the song Air It Out, which 50 used for Animal, Jada goes straight for the throat, attacking 50 for his alleged snitching, fake gangster image, singing on record, being over-rated, and using his situation on being shot 9 nine times to sell records. Jada managed to do in just over 2 minutes what Ja Rule couldn't do in about 10 songs, and that's destroy 50.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...See me, couple hood niggas behind stars
I heard you put a couple good niggas behind bars (Preme!)
I might never sell that much
But you can bet your last two quarters I'll never tell that much
Picture 'Kiss not come out swingin'
It's like going to see 50 at a show and he don't come out singin' ...

...This is a true fact
Since when has it become cool to get shot and not shoot back...

...Most likely your new CD is a weed plate
Bunch of love songs, 100% pure garbage
Just somethin' to break up buds on
You should just sell clothes and sneakers
Cause outta your whole camp your flow's the weakest...

21) 2Pac - Against All Odds (Dissing Nas, Puff Daddy, Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep, and others)

2Pac was definitely angry, I mean after all, he was shot 5 times so I think I will be angry too. But this is what Hit'em Up should have sounded like, plus it doesn't have his weak ass crew. Here, Pac's anger is very well channeled and through some good lyricism he viciously rides on his enemies; with Nas actually getting it worse than everyone on this track. Nas can be considered an innocent bystander in a way, because his song The Message on It Was Written, was towards B.I.G., but Pac thought it was for him.

Lyrical Beatdown:

...This little nigga named Nas thinks he live like me
talking about he left the hospital, took five like me
You living fantasies nigga, I reject your deposit
We shook Dre punk ass, now he out of the closet
Mobb Deep wonder why a nigga blowed them out
next time grown folks talking nigga, close your mouth...

...Lord listen to me, God don't like ugly, "It Was Written"
Hey Nas, your whole damn style is bitten
You heard "My Melody", read about my life in the papers
all my run-ins with authorities, felonious capers
Now you wanna live my life, so what's the hassle Nas?
Niggas that don't rhyme right, you've seen too many movies
Load em up against the wall, close his eyes
Since you lie you die, GOODBYE
Let the real live niggas hear the truth from me
What would you do if you was me nigga?

This wraps up part one of my greatest diss songs in hip hop. I'll hopefully be back shortly with the next ten. Until then, later.
