Of all the top hip-hop songs of 2008, one will live on my "Dance" iTunes playlist for a long time: Chris Brown's "Forever."

Released in May 2008, the best part of the song is the catchy techno-meets-hip-hop beat. Lush atmospheric synth riffs mix with the percussive stomp of hip-hop to form a rousing dance beat, which seems to be an increasingly common sound amongst hip-hop artists. Over the techno, Chris Brown delivers energetic lyrics about having fun and dancing forev-ev-ever.
My favorite part is at the 3:12 mark when Brown sings "I won't let you fall girl, fall..." and the melody drifts away. Percussive beats takeover and slowly the intensity rises as the melody grows stronger and then erupts in full force. Many times at parties or clubs I have personally exploded to that part.

Seriously, I loved this song! I was heartbroken when he beat up Rihanna because I knew it would ruin the song for me. Ugh.

Well here's my 2 cent. I loved his story. I loved his claim to fame. Enjoyed his dancing and clean image. Bought his first album. Supported another young brutha on the come up. Cool, right? Then he gets with Rihanna. They seemed like the young Beyonce and Jay. Ever so talented, careers ahead of each other...Then we got introduced to him as a person. Used to love him, but his puppy love music has never sounded the same ever since the whole incident with Rhianna went down.
