Absolutely the most darling woman on earth. I grew up watching Doris Day's sunshiney personality perk up the screen of our little television set. This woman can handle everything...trickery from Rock Hudson, stalking from Tony Randall, controlling male chauvinism from adorable James Garner, and she can sing like a canary. I find her absolutely adorable, and have delighted in some lovely pen pal exchanged letters with her. Sheer delight.

Love this list!  Nothing like a bit of old Hollywood at the table :)  I'd love to hear a bit about why'd you have these folks over for dinner!  I don't know if you've seen @Sharrie's list of VIPs I'd like to have on my guest list, but you should check it out.  I think you'd really like it!  Thanks for sharing, Melissa :)

hiya devora, so exciting, you're my first reply. just fell over a Lunch reference online and thought i'd sign up and give it a try. So you inspired me to explain why I've invited this fab group over for dinner...I really do love old Hollywood. New Hollywood is ok...but there is a class of character that came before that i still admire for so many reasons. I looked at Sharrie's list of VIP's...fascinating assemblage. Who knows what alternate reality exists in the great 'beyond'...wouldn't it be terrific to actually meet all of these people who have gone before...?

Oh, very cool, we're glad to have you, Melissa.  Welcome!  By the way, I love your update to this list :)  I'd really love to dine with Grace Kelly, too.  Now that is one classy woman!  Another one would be Audrey Hepburn.  Now you're making me think of who I'd like to dine with... maybe I should just make a list of my own!  Thanks for inspiring :)
