Lea Salonga! She's been around and yet some of us possibly recognized her voice more than her name. Started singing at the age of 7, Lea is a Filipino singer who ventured into Broadway musicals as well as Disney's animated films like Aladdin & Mulan. Her most recent production is Cinderella the Musical.

In the Making of Cinderella

Naturally, if you've been keeping track of musicals, you'd have noticed her in Miss Saigon & Les Miserables. At 10, Lea had recorded her first album Small Voice which became a major hit (gold certification). Lea's voice is certainly beautiful, distinctive and pure. Listen to this medley from the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber and you'd agree with me.

With regard to songs in animated film like Pocahontas, Aladdin & Mulan + Mulan II, Lea sang the songs Colors of the Wind (a beautiful song by any standard), A Whole New World and Reflection (check out the following video for her sense of humor).

Colors of The Wind (Pocahontas)

A Whole New World (Aladdin)

Reflection (Mulan)

Lea Salonga's most impressive and touching rendition comes at the funeral of Cory Aquino though. Her performance of the song Bayan Ko (if translated correctly, I hope, is My Country) was one of a kind. I've never seen any funeral quite like this!!! Amazing!

I LOVE Lea's voice. Truly lyrical and beautiful. I would actually love to hear her sing some classical repertoire because she would be absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for "Sharrieng" Sharrie! (hehe)

Yes, she's absolutely gorgeous, isn't she?! You've no idea how close you're to the root word of that name! ;-)

She is a Filipino and she was real young when she first began singing, at 7! Lea Salongo is famous for her works in Miss Saigon, Les Miserables & Mulan. Terrific singer and one who has such passion & powerful voice. Love her!      Lea has such a distinctive voice that even if you don't know her name, you'd have recognized her voice! Indeed, she sang in Aladdin!                        …
