Richelle Mead does not disappoint in her Georgina Kincaid series. The series that focuses on Georgina, a succubus with a conscience and an assistant manager of a large Seattle bookstore that finds herself in a who done it mystery of immortal proportions. Honestly, when "Succubus Blues" arrived on my review stack, I was worried. It looked good, but it also raised a few warning flags; this could, I thought, be another lascivious sex romp disguised as urban fantasy/horror, proving little more than an excuse to have demons and other supernatural creatures get naked and sweaty with lustful mortals. There's a lot to like in 'Succubus Blues' -- a sharp heroine who shows some unexpected depth as the story spins out, believable supporting characters to populate the world, great sex scenes, funny dialogue -- but I think my favorite thing about it is that it never takes itself too seriously. Though it is about immortals (succubi, angels, demons, vampires, etc.), it never falls into the brooding of Anne Rice and her denizens.
