It's been quite a few years since I read "The Vampire Lestat." While it definitely expanded on Lestat's life, I remember it feeling sort of cheesy most of the time, especially the whole rock star angle.
I enjoyed this book a lot. Lestat's character is much more defined and personal than in Interview with the Vampire. You learn about his human life as well as how he delevopes into the Brat Prince of Vampires. This version of Lestat is less harsh and a bit more vulnerable. everything anne rice touches turns to gold! the character of lestat is cunning, funny, sexy, and you just cant help but fall in love with him. he will have you bearing your neck in no time.

It may have worked better in 1985, but by now, it seems a bit unnecessary … more
