READERS BE WARNED...SPOILERS AHEAD! I have to say that this is my favorite Anita Blake book in the series yet. Halloween is fast aproaching, and of course that would be Anitas busy season, so along with being totally overworked Anita is hard at work on a string of murders being committed by a group of rouge vampires. This book has alot more action than the previous two. Anita is being threatened by the rouge vamps, her on-again-off-again friend/coworker Edward, some very odd snake people, a million yr old vampire master, and oh yea her boss too. Jean-claude (who im really starting to like as a character) is still begging Anita to become his human servant willingly, and shes doing everything she can to stay away from him. But when another master vampire tries to sink his fangs into Anita the battle over whom to serve is on. Anita is propositioned by two different people in this book to give up her would be master, jean-claude but she just couldnt bring herself to do it (yay her!) Until he bestows upon her his third mark. Fed up and royally pissed off Anita sniches on Jean-claude to who she thought was the better master vampire (dirty pool Anita). Like i said i like jean-claudes character, his personality, and i think he really is in love with ms. Anita, so i was a little miffed when she gave him up. Buuuuut she totally redeems herself by not only tipping him off of her betrayal but fighting by his side to the end. She says its to save human lives but i dont buy it i think/hope there will be a blossom of romance between the two of them somewhere later in the series. True to her past Hamilton keeps the readers in total suspense mode until the very last page, in a final battle sequence that was not only thrilling but super intense to read. Im on my way out to pick up the next one tomarrow, happy reading boys and girls.
