Whole Foods has my Whole Heart

I don't live anywhere near a Whole Foods Markets, though whenever I find myself near one I make it a point to spend some time inside their heavenly gates. I love Whole Foods. You could say it is the equivalent of a foodies Disneyland- with their fresh food counters being their main attraction. I think Whole Foods makes your grocery shopping an experience rather than a chore and I just can't get enough of it.

Their fresh produce section is gigantic, what's not to love about that? Also, they have probably the best meat counter I have ever seen. I am not even a big red meat fan, but yet I find myself drooling over the possibilities of countless cuts of prime steaks. Seafood counter? Check. Fresh bakery, check check. Oh, and  don't get me started on their wine section.....huge! What more could a food-loving-wine-drinking gal ask for right?

When I am near a Whole Foods, I love to stop in and have lunch at their freshly made sushi counter  or grab a hot bowl of soup from their soup and salad bar. Then browse through aisle after aisle gathering all sorts of delectable goods to eat later.

I love their selection, their outstanding customer service and their upscale grocery atmosphere. Okay, now I'm hungry!

Whole Foods is amazing. The quality of produce far surpasses any traditional grocer at this time. The meat and seafood sections are super fresh and dining at the Whole Foods ready made counter is like eating at four star restaurant. If you haven't tried it before, you have to go the Whole Foods bakery and try their coconut cake, it is just phenomenal. They sell the itty bitty ones for us that have those sweet tooth cravings.

I love Whole Foods... I just wish they weren't so expensive :( I have a whole foods about 100 yards away from my apartment, but I shop there all too often and spend way to much money of food!

Yes there is. That's where I attempt to go, but there's just certain things at Whole Foods that you can't get at Trader Joes... galaxy granola :)

Ah, Whole Paycheck ;) I am lucky enough to have three - count 'em, three - within a 15-minute drive from my house. One is about five minutes away. You'd think I'd get in there more often, because I LOVE their produce section, but I can't seem to get out of the store for less than $50. It's just a real dangerous proposition. I really like the bakery and deli, and their wine and beer section is one of the best around. I just wish they'd carry Diet Coke! C'mon, people! Diet Freakin' Coke!

I agree! I'm probably 10 miles away from the nearest Whole Foods but quite often do I find myself 'dropping' in. When I go, I feel so 'trendy' lol. Great food, great atmosphere and pretty decent pricing. I 'heart' Whole Food too!

Well 'hello' Whole Foods. I've heard people sing its praises. Looks like I'll have to go for sure now.

I love the food they sell here and I'm very fond of the idea. What a shame the prices will break the bank. Also, would it kill Mackey to make Whole Foods more established in the national eye? I just moved to Buffalo, and the closest Whole Foods is in Toronto - a 90-minute drive which only people who have passports can make! The most accessable without a passport is a four-hour drive, in freaking Pittsburgh! Big waste of energy to make trips like that!

Though Trader Joe's is my grocery store of choice for afford-ability, on a recent stop at Whole Foods I couldn't help but notice two things. First, it isn't as expensive as I previously thought. Most staple organic items that aren't processed or micro-packaged are priced about the same as even a regular grocery store. This may be due to the fact that conventional foods are not immune to inflation lately and organic food are leveling out and became more mainstream. Second, I loved their "I'm local" …

Quality goods, but we still call it "Whole Paycheck." The selection of natural and organics is hard to beat, but certain health claims are more than just a little over-rated.

I like Whole Foods. I know it is easy to hate them for their prices and gigantic presences. I can't afford to shop there often but I know that Whole Foods moving into our part of the country made the local chains pay attention. For the first time they offer organic options and nature products. They even developed a "generic organic brand" in order  to compete. So on balance they have made the choices better for the community. Some of the poorer parts of town now …

The purpose of this review is to address the most common criticism of Whole Foods: that it is way too expensive. I agree that for everyday shopping, the prices are considerably higher than traditional supermarkets. It is difficult to compare prices for non-organic vs organic or hormone free/free range/sustainably raised vs not, but still, I concede the point.    Great bargains are to be found, however, if you are heading to Whole Foods for lunch and not to buy groceries. I eat …

Alright, this is more of an experiment than anything else.      That being said, here is my take on Whole Foods.  Awesome selection, great service.  Downside is that it is atrociously expensive and at the same time the store is flawed by its clientele, who are generally people who suffer greatly from an overly inflated sense of self entitlement.

I love the hot and cold food bars!
