I am in my early 50s, single and live in Connecticut. I am a lifelong very, very avid reader and am a freelance book reviewer with my own blog (http://www.deadtreesreview.blogspot.com
). Please visit. It emphasizes small press and self-published books. Why not major publisher books? I certainly have nothing against them, but I do it to give the small press books whatever tiny bit of publicity I can. I have read a number of books from small presses that are just as worthy of attention as a major publisher book, but whose publisher does not have the prestige or marketing budget of, say, Random House or Simon and Schuster.
I also consider myself a pretty easy person to please when it comes to reviewing. As long as a book is at least competently done, I am prepared to say something nice about it. If I come across a book that I really don't like, I just won't review it. The worst I will say about a book is something like "This deserves a thumbs down," instead of "This book sucks."
