It doesn't take Stieg Larson to come up with a masterpiece like three idiots hitting each other to the delight of millions, but after watching every Stooge short on a loop for 20 hours a day, the Farrelly Brothers just barely succeed here. Star Rating: I must recuse myself as not being the biggest fan of the original Three Stooges comedy team and the shorts that made them so famous. I always thought the act amounted to little more than a one-trick pony; there’s only so much face-slapping, head-pounding, eye-poking, nyuk-nyuking, and woo-wooing I can take before it becomes stale and repetitive. Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk! I have to admit, I was more a fan of the classic "Three Stooges" when I was a kid than when I was an adult. Now I am no expert on "stooginess" but I have to admit that this 2012 film surprised me. The film had the right tone, style and delivery to emulate the classic TV series. Comparisons to the actors who played the characters would be inevitable, since those actors defined the characters; but Hayes, Sasso and Diamantopoulos did a great job. … more

I'll admit that when I saw trailers for this movie, I was cringing, expecting this to be another typical Hollywood bastardization of something classic, but I finally watched it and was proven wrong. This is a humorous, solid homage to the iconic slapstick trio.
