First I must say, that I have never been a fan of 'The Three Stooges'...never watched their tv show way back when or understood their appeal. Slapstick, over the top comedy has never been my thing.

So you can imagine how much I was dreading seeing the Farrelly Brothers new film 'The Three Stooges'. Well guess what? To my surprise...I absolutely loved it and I LMAO.

This has a lot to do with the three actors portraying these guys. Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos) Larry (Sean Hayes) and Curly (Will Sasso) are absolutely spot on in bring these iconic characters to life.

Yes, the humor is campy, silly, but it's funny.

Briefly, the film is broken down into three episodes/acts. The story (as if it matters) is about three babies who are left on the doorstep of any orphanage run by nuns.

The newborns Moe, Larry and Curly grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuk-nuyking and woo-wooing their way to adulthood.

When they find out that the orphanage is on the verge of being closed down due to financial problems, the guys set off into the world to find the necessary cash ($800 million plus) to save the only home they've ever known.

What happens next is all very nonsensical and you just have to go with it.

The film was written by Peter and Bobby Farrelly along with their boyhood friend Mike Cerrone ('Me, Myself & Irene') and to get an idea of some of the humor...

Larry David (Steinfeld) plays Sister Mary-Mengele, Jennifer Hudson is a singing nun, Jane Lynch (Glee) is a sweet nun, Sofia Vergara is trying to get her rich husband knocked off, and the cast of 'Jersey Shore' is...well...the cast of Jersey Shore...

'The Three Stooges' is a blast from the past and it's also a blast for the present. I gave this movie 4 out of 5 bagels and John was close behind. Check out our video to see his score and a few other things.

'The Three Stooges' opens in theatres Friday April 13th. Don't miss it.

I was undecided if I was going to see this one. What the heck, I loved the Stooges when I was a kid and enjoyed the re-runs on TV then. I may make time to see this one, but I am not sure if it'll be this weekend. I'll give it a shot. Nice one! John liked it too. LOL!

** out of ****    Think of how disastrous this could have been: a modern jab at cinematically reincarnating the popularity of the Three Stooges. As you may know, all three members of the comedy trio that graced the television screens of so many younglings at the time of its original broadcast have long since died, thus someone else would have to take the throne. This reworking of "The Three Stooges" casts Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Sean Hayes in the roles of Curley, …

The Man Who Went WOOO WOOOO WOOO WOOOO!
It doesn't take Stieg Larson to come up with a masterpiece like three idiots hitting each other to the delight of millions, but after watching every Stooge short on a loop for 20 hours a day, the Farrelly Brothers just barely succeed here.      I'll admit, I was NOT looking forward to this movie.  I believe I even called what I saw in the trailer "cancerous" with it's iconic comedy legends being played by different people, the bit with the lobster in …

Star Rating:         I must recuse myself as not being the biggest fan of the original Three Stooges comedy team and the shorts that made them so famous. I always thought the act amounted to little more than a one-trick pony; there’s only so much face-slapping, head-pounding, eye-poking, nyuk-nyuking, and woo-wooing I can take before it becomes stale and repetitive. If you’ve seen one, you’ve pretty much seen them all – the occasional tweaks …

Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!   I have to admit, I was more a fan of the classic "Three Stooges" when I was a kid than when I was an adult. Now I am no expert on "stooginess" but I have to admit that this 2012 film surprised me. The film had the right tone, style and delivery to emulate the classic TV series. Comparisons to the actors who played the characters would be inevitable, since those actors defined the characters; but Hayes, Sasso and Diamantopoulos did a great job. …

I'll admit that when I saw trailers for this movie, I was cringing, expecting this to be another typical Hollywood bastardization of something classic, but I finally watched it and was proven wrong.  This is a humorous, solid homage to the iconic slapstick trio.      This is a solid homage, and delivers some Stooge-esque humor in a modern context, as I especially loved the scenes with Moe becoming a cast member on Jersey Shore and delivering a lot of hilarious slapstick …
